Road Helmet vs TT Aero Helmet?
as an ag competitor i think that both have there place.... imo for sprint and oly distance in the mid west during the summer ie..june to september using an aero helmet may hurt more than help, the few seconds saved from cutting down on drag may not be worth the heat gain or trapped within, a road helmet you may lose a few seconds from wind drag but gain in the cooling dept. whats your opinions and or experiances...

I did a HIM in the mid-west with when the heat index was 105 degrees. I have a Giro Advantage and at no time did I feel my head was too hot. There is still plenty of ventilation.

I wear Giro Advantage 2 as well for Sprints / Oly's and HIM, regardless of the tempartures in Georgia where it is known to be a little warm and sticky.  I have yet to have an issue with my head overheating as there is enough airflow to keep you cool enough.

So seconds gained are seconds gained.

I overheat easily so if it's going to be above about 90 I'm in a road helmet. Well, super sprints I wear a road helmet anyway so I don't feel like near as much a poseur as I could.

I live in FL and wear a Giro Advantage 2 helmet for races.

I wouldn't wear it for long mid-day training rides in the middle of the summer,  but have had no problems in races.

The Rudy Wingspan is extremely well vented. Not a chance you can overheat in it.

Specialized TT2 and I wear it for everything. You're not out in the heat nearly as long in the short races (in spite of higher effort >> higher body temp). Shorter races are also decided by smaller margins than longer ones, so every second counts when you're interested in placing.
