Subject: 20 Rules for Living
The recent "rules" threads, especially 20 rules for swimming got me to start thinking what my rules would be. Then I ran across this post, 20 Rules for Running. Her inspiration? The Dalai Lama's 20 Rules for Life.

Check out the list. What would be your "Rules for Triathlon" based on the Dalai Lama's 20 rules?

17. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other. This is too deep for me. I got nothin’.   The joy and love for running, biking and swimming is a reward itself. You do  run, swim, and bike because you need to prepare for a race, you need to improve etc. But really the most importantly you  run swim, and bike because you love it and it gives you  joy. ( except for a speed work lol. )

Love it!  Bet the Dalai Lama would get a great laugh out of it as well. Met him once in person (I was helping to host his entourage at University of Hawaii) and he has a great, irreverent sense of humor.

1. Be gentle with the earth your bike shorts. This is exactly why you should always poop in cornfields and not in your pants when on a group ride.  Fertilization of the precious earth instead of killing all behind you.

Awesome. I have always had some kind of minimum level of "training" that is just what keeps me sane. That level is higher than most, but I do it because I love to do it. I'm always a little perplexed when people ask me what I'm training for...
