Does anyone know of a swim coach that will be willing to help me out with my swimming? Thanks!

i use jason overbaugh but he's out of ATL and not a "swim coach". most of the ATL crowd use maria at dynamo or their respective coaching firms. maria is wonderful.i also got some good help one time from heidi something in dunwoody. lisab put me onto her.

locally my two former swim coaches have moved out of athens. i think you can get good lessons at masters via uga absc. google that. then their are some newer tri coaches like tri ghost (drive multisport who would be good) in the athens area. he should be solid as he is a technician.

I would be happy to help.  If you need an advanced swim coach, I also have a connection (my swim coach) who is internationally competitive.  Either way, hit me up at drivemultisport.com

What pool location do you coach out of. Looked at your site but could not tell?

BigMikeGA, pool access in Athens has become a bit of a problem in recent months.  The pool I use to swim (Georgia Aquatic Center in Watkinsville), closed down abruptly in October.  I moved back to the YWCO in East Athens, and now they are closed down for a few weeks for major pool renovations.  So, I have been getting most of my swims in at the Aquatic Center in Madison.

I just started coaching, and haven't worked with many athletes for one on one swimming. When I have, I normally have been meeting them at their pool (if local).  I am meeting someone tomorrow in Augusta to work with swimming, and we are meeting at the YWCA where they swim. I do not really consider myself a "swim coach" as I do not have an extensive swim background, but I am well grounded in the technical aspects of swimming for triathlon.  If after talking to an athlete (whether I coach them for triathlon or not), I determine they are already pretty fast, skilled, etc., then I would try to connect them with a more advanced swim coach.

For those of you around Athens area, the YMCA in Winder opened up a brand new pool about a year and a half ago and the pool is awesome and there seems to be always lanes available. The whole Y received a renovation 1-2 years back but the pool was a new addition.

I have worked with Michelle King and she is in your area. I would recommend her. Her website is:

Thanks for the offer.

Right now I can hold 1:42 to 1:45 for a mile. When I started tri 5 years ago I went to SwimAtlanta tri masters in the mornings at Sugarloaf for a year. I sucked but I got a better. Decided the early morning & commute times were too much and went solo at local pools, I have made good gains since then. I am now using Snellville LA Fitness. Feel that I would benefit from a stroke technician to examine mine & let me know what could be improved.  Most of my workouts are sets done with 10 seconds between each repetition. Usual would be 10x50 in 45 sec, then 10x100 in 1:36, then 10x25 in 19. Will usually do a 50 of breast or back between sets. My stroke count for a length 25scy is 18.

Based on that info do you think you would be the right person to assist or would you pass me on?
