Going to be vacationing in Orlando the week before our cruise.  My HIM training plan starts the week I go on vacation.  Rather than leaving my bike in the back of the car while at sea....at being around Orlando the week prior, I need to ride.  Does anyone know if it is possible to rent a decent bike in the Orlando area for 4-5 days?

I can't give you any specifics, but i'm sure in that area you can find a decent ride for a good price.  Check LBS websites for rentals or call around.

I just rented a Trek 1.1 while on vacation in VA for a day for $35 which I don't think was a bad deal.  The LBS was really cool about it; I picked it up in the morning and they really didn't care what time I brought it back the next day so it was really like a 36 hour rental.  They did have a weekly rate that was a little cheaper, but I didn't have the time to ride that much.

Give Jose or Laz a call at Advance Cycle.  They are located only a few minutes from the airport and are really good guys.  I know they rent bikes, I have not rented one from them since I am local, but they have been servicing my bike for a while now.

Also if you are staying near the airport during any of your stay, there is a good 12-15 mile loop behind the airport with fairly open roads.  You will often find multiple groups every evening.  Let me know if you need any more info.

Be sure to check out the maps of where you're staying and where the bike shops are located.  I've found that "Orlando" is actually a very large geographical area that's not always easy to navigate, so you could end up driving 30 minutes to a bike shop even though it's technically in the same area as you.

Also, check with the folks in the Florida section of the this site, let them know where you're staying and they could probably help.

Need more specific than "Orlando".  Orlando can take 2 hours to get across depending on the time of day.  If you can narrow it down I can suggest a place.

Thanks.  We will be staying at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes.   The address is:

4040 Central Florida Parkway Orlando, Florida 32837 USA

Any shops around this area?  Any good places to ride?

Orange Cycle is not too far from you..

Not sure the best places to ride however.  I know that you take your life into your hands in most places in Orlando proper.  Probably going to need to drive outside the city to find decent places (like Clermont)

Honestly for 4-5 days I would say it's not worth the hassle.  Suck it up and ride the gym stationary bike
