Subject: What Wheel for Wheel Cover?

I have a new P3 and bought a used 404 for the front.  I'm planning on purchasing a wheel cover for the rear, but not sure I want to put it on the Shimano R500 that came on the bike.  Would love to have a separate wheel with the cover on that just comes out for race days.  I know another 404 or deeper for the rear would be best, but honestly can't swing that right now.  Are there  cheaper options that will still get the aero benifits from the wheel cover?

I'll race at about 190 lbs and am a fairly strong rider.

Or maybe put a wheel cover on the R500 and get a cheaper training wheel?

Thanks

I'll make it easy for you.  You can't put a cover on the R500.

The wheel cover on ANY wheel will get the aero benefits from the wheel cover.  Putting it on something like an 808 may give you some added 'shape' advantages of the disc.  As long as it fits on the R500, that's fine to use.  Mine is on a Velocity Deep V rim I had built w/32-spokes.  Only reason I had a new wheel built was because I wanted power (PT hub).  I take the cover off when I'm not racing for awhile.

Edit:  Looks like the R500 is one of those it will not fit on, so you will have to pick a new wheel or have one built.

I am currently building a wheel with them. I'm in the same boat as you, P3...just bought HEDH3 for the front....looking at velocity fusion rear wheel with disk cover and cassette....$800.

I use mine with an 808 and the whole setup cost me less than $400.
