My most recent think I will die experience was a 10k done in 45:24. So that is 7:18 per mile. My easy pace is about 6:30 per km or 10:27 per mile. Lots of times I go slower.

Easy pace  8:45-9:15

Tempo (LT)  6:55-7:15  (anywhere from 25-45 min.)

Invterval (VO2 work)  6:25-6:35  (800 and 1000 meters)

My last marathon was at a 7:45 pace and my last half marathon was at a 7:07 pace.  The above paces are the only speeds I run at meaning you won't find me running an easy run at a 8:00 pace.  From my understanding I get the same benefit from an easy run at 9:00 as I would at 8:00 so I will save my energy for more miles and higher quality workouts.  My easy pace makes up for 75%-80% of my total mileage.

One of my biggest problems is running easy.  I am constantly looking down at my watch and seeing a min or so faster than I should be going. Especially when I am feeling good, I want to fly, I love to run fast. I guess its the old middle distance runner in me.

My slow pace is 8:00-8:15 for anything under 10 miles.  I usually end up in the 7:30 or faster range unless I pay attention.

8:00 minute pace is easy
7:30 pace is striding ( and what I do most of my miles at)
6:30 pace would be racing (last time I raced..2 years ago)

Goodness, to even see ( my running I mean) a 15:30 5K would be awesome. I have not seen that since 1985.....
