So just how hot is it down there in Austin?  I'm still riding around with tights on.  Freaking end of May and I had windbreaker on!!!

 Is the race wetsuit legal?

End of stupid questions.  Looking forward to meeting everyone.

I wore my wetsuit last year. The water is close to high 60's like Barton Springs pool. That's below freezing my book.

Air temp...Hot and humid. I think it'll be nice early on during the bike but it might get toasty when you hit the run. Expect low to mid 80's by then (my car said it was 85 when I left for lunch at noon today). Weather.com says there's a 30% chance of rain with a high of 91 on race day so I don't think it'll be that hot since that high temp won't come until later in the afternoon.

I remember the water temp being reported as 72 on race day. It was pretty cool jumping in, I remember that, and I wasn't feeling anywhere close to overheated when I came out. I would have it was close to 78. I don't expect it to be that cool this year, since it doesn't look like we'll have the rain right before the race that we did last year.

Hey, another CapTex question for those who have done it before: Water Bottle Hand-ups? Yes/no, where? Thanks.

A water stop on the bike. They hand you bottles.

And yet another stupid question - this time from the south:

Do you get your bike checked at the expo the day before? I pulled down the participant info from the website and it showed a MANDATORY BIKE CHECK IN at the transition area on Sunday 28th, between 2-6 PM. I won't be leaving Houston until around 5... I guess I might have to cut work short on Sunday...  Do I get a sticker? How does this work?

And yes, this is my first Oly and I'm both excited and terrified at the same time.

Thank the sweet lord that I don't have to do any hand ups - nothing new on race day.

They give you a wristband...well they did last year but you do need to drop off the bike the day before.

Thanks for the heads up - something tells me, I will get a strange and mysterious 6 hour  bird flu bug endemic only to Triathletes and exotic dancers by Sunday morning...

Thanks Xiphias - keep pushing the rock  baby!

No problem. Make sure that you make your way to the expo center to pick up your packet before you drop off your bike. Good luck.

Awesome. Are you saying you are bringing a load of strippers to cheer you on?

Unfortunately no - but Race Directors take note:

If they had gotten volunteer strippers to do the hand up's - Hands offs - whatever - I think we'd have more crashes - be careful out there.
