So I'm thinking about signing up for this race in 2 weeks. Has anyone done this race before? Any thoughts for someone thinking about it?

It's out at Square Lake, and I like training in that area, so I hope I'll like racing out there too!!...

Never done it before...but I keep saying "Oh, I might".  Between that and Lake Elmo the following week, though...I get a little tired of paying to ride on the raods I ride on every day :D

You DO get free tacos, though. And who doesn't love that?

Yeah, the tacos ARE a major draw for me...

I did the race a couple of years ago and it's a fine race.  I'm think of doing it this year, but I'm being lazy about signing up.  I kind of want to have a better idea of what the weather will be like.  The last time I raced it I had the wonderful experiance of getting hailed on while riding.  It's an experiance I would rather skip.

I've biked out here more than I'd like to admit. I am waiting for a weather report before I pull the trigger. I'd always do the short as who really wants to ride two loops of the same hilly course...the run is quick out and back with out being fully up hill for one mile and back being fully down hill for one mile. There will be tacos and if we're lucky an RV won't try to pull through transition to scuba dive during the race this year

It'll be my first chance to race in multi-sport race this season, so I'm hoping the weather holds (as of right now there's a high of 70 with no rain in the forecast.)

Wife and I did it last year.  It's a fun race but the bike course is hilly, especially coming out of T1, there's a BIG hill that I wasn't expecting and it killed me (asthma).  We are planning on duing it this year but Im waiting for a weather report and to see if my knee will hold up (I have a "click" in it).  Right now temps look like a high of 70ish but the rain is my concern.

Thanks again everyone for your input. MNHockey, thanks for letting me know about the run being uphill THEN downhill. I'm excited for my first du of the season next weekend!

Wife and I are signed up!  I may regret it but I signed up for the long course.  To all my fellow BT'ers I will have a white no lettering road bike and either a red 2XU trisuit or Green Voler trisuit and wife should have her Blue 2XU Trisuit and blue Trek Road Bike if anyone wants to say hi!

So how are we all feeling about Saturday weather? I need the weather men to decide if it's going to rain or not and stick to it!

Forecasts have been all over the place.  Looks like a chance of rain but nothing guaranteed.  Last year it was supposed to rain all day and instead the sun came out and it was 75.  wound up with a sunburn.  LOL!

My thought is always I dont care about clouds but dont want it to rain.  Here's hoping......

I'll look for you and say hi! I hope to be in a pretty unmistakeable pink shorts...

Picked up my packet today! Can't wait to "gut out" this sprint!

I'll keep an eye out for you!  Planning on getting there about 7:45 to 8.  Staying at in-laws in Eau Claire tonight and leaving about 6ish in the morning.  I will have the red 2XU trisuit on.  Pray for decent weather.  Forecast is showing rain (60% chance) tonight and by 6AM only about a 20% chance.  Will pobably be cloudy.  Hope the roads aren't wet.

I'll have to decide before I set my alarm tonight what my plan is for the event. I'm leaning toward going and knowing the biking will be a little slow going with the wet roads. I'll be in a black/red TYR tri suit and probably a red jacket.

DONE!  Weather turned out to be ok.  Cloudy but no rain.  Good to meet you Steve!  Forgot how killer some of the hills were and dreaded the second time around.  About 1/2 mile into the second run my quads started to cramp and lock up which killed my time.  Ugggg.  Gotta rethink nutrition, hydration and bike fit.

Nice to meet you too!

Yeah, that was a perfect day (for me, anyways) to race. I love those cool, cloudy days. That was a fun race - I'll have to keep that one on the calendar for next year.
