I go back and forth on this, but I'd have to say my favorite sport is swimming. As far as race split times are concerned, its also my weakest sport. Running is definitely my strongest sport. And dont get me wrong, I love to run, I just love to swim more.

What say you, triathletes? Do you have a favorite sport? Is your favorite sport the same or different from your strongest sport?

Swimming is by far my best discipline.  While I have spent way too many hours doing laps in pools I have to say that when I'm dialed into the swim, it still is pretty special.  I would say however, is that I enjoy getting out on my bike the most.

Definitely running.  Trail running is in my blood, so that would have to be my fave, with swimming a close second.

Biking is my best, as well as my favorite. Unfortunately, swimming is by far my worst, as well as being my least favorite. Makes it a bit difficult to motivate to train for that one sometimes...

I am a natural fish. I was competing in a private swim club at age 6. I swam all my life. So as far as where I finish in a split, I am best at swimming. But I love the run. I am slow, but improving. But nothing excites me more than seeing a 10+ mile run on my training plan

MY favorite sport is baseball, I have always loved playing it, Out of the tri sports my favorite right now is cycling, my best however is running and there isn't a rooty, rockey, single track trail anywhere on the planet I wouldn't like to get on and run.

My favorite sport is practicing Mauy Thai kickboxing for the last 7 years. Helps keep me focused, love running as well and getting outdoors.

Favorite and best discipline is running.  It isn't really close...swimming is a relatively distant second on both counts (though, come to think of it, I placed about the same in my AG on the run and swim in my last HIM, so I guess the gap is tightening on the "best" side of the equation).

I'm a new triathlete as of the start of this year. The bike is my newest sport and I'm still warming to it. I like it, but I don't love it yet, and it's definitely my weakest. Time passes much faster on the bike than with the other two, though!

Running is still my favorite, with swimming a close second. I'm pretty sure swimming is my strongest in terms of tri placement, though in my one and only sprint tri my run and swim placement within the field were almost exactly the same. (For a variety of reasons I think that most of my future tris will see me place higher in the swim than in the run.) Especially in terms of the work I put into it - two fairly modest swim sessions per week vs. 3+ longer runs - the swim is my "best" sport. I'm glad that triathlon training kicked my butt back into the pool after lo these many years, because I really do enjoy it.

My favorite sport is probably Formula 1 but I'm not sure how good I would be at it. There is a matter of about a $200 Million dollar entry barrier to the sport.

That said, I've driven carts and shown some aptitude.

My best sport? I have been a decent competitive shooter. I'm not a very good triathlete, my strong point is persistence.

RUnning is my fav, also my best.

Swimming and cycling are tied for a distant third (both in favoritism and my skill)

Swimming is my favorite, and also the one that I'm worst at.  If I posted a video, I would get laughed off this site.  My best is currently the bike, but that ain't sayin' much!

The bike is my favorite, but I don't shy away from any of the three.

My best is probably also the bike, but it's close, I'm MOP in all three events.

Hard to say- swimming has been a large part of my life in my past- so I have fond memories.  Right now biking is my favorite though.  Definitely swimming is my best sport competitive wise.

My best sport by far is cycling. My favorite waffles between cycling and running (right now I'm in a running phase). I tolerate swimming for the most part, although I do enjoy open water swimming.

I like running a lot, and I have been doing it (with long breaks) since I was a kid. And you know what they say about first loves. It's also my stronger event. I enjoy the simplicity of the training and racing for running, too. Lace up and go. No fancy equipment. I especially enjoy it in the colder months.

Biking is my next strongest sport, and I also enjoy it a lot. Especially climbing. I am a terrible swimmer, and I spend far less time swimming than doing the other two. I really rather enjoy it once I'm at the pool, and find it very relaxing. I'm bad enough that I really have to concentrate on everything I do in the pool, and I like the distraction of that. But all the extra overhead of getting to the pool etc. means that it's the first one to slip off the list.

Trainingwise, running is definitely my favorite, swimming second. I've learned to tolerate biking and sometimes kinda sorta enjoy long, steady rides, but I'm losing my bike buddy so it'll be back to tolerate. Really love to run but swimming is a kind of meditation for me--quiet, absolute focus (except for counting laps LOL).

Racewise, usually do best on the run. But I'm pretty hot and tired, and trying to make up time lost on the bike, by that point, so I don't know if "enjoy" applies in many cases! I've had a few races where my swim placed as well or better than my run. There's a certain kind of OWS I really like--clear ocean, a little current, fairly warm, minimal jellyfish danger, minimal contact with other swimmers. My best OWS have been when I'm out in the clear, usually behind one or a few really fast swimmers but ahead of the others, and can swim my own pace. I think I would really enjoy an IM length swim or 5000m OWS in these conditions.
