Total Time = 00m
Overall Rank = 239/243
Age Group = 40-45
Age Group Rank = 41/41
Pre-race routine:

Stayed at a hotel the night before. Grabbed a banana and bagel from the breakfast bar. Assigned racks in transition. I was in the middle. Only 4 or 5 bikes per rack so plenty of room.

Event warmup:

Swam some laps. Practiced getting out of the pool as there is a weird double ledge. Was wet until my wave which was about 2 hours later.
Swim
  • 14m 1s
  • 525 yards
  • 02m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

I was probably at about 12:00. The timer was outside near transition. Made sure I was in Lane 1 and used the ladder to get out of the pool.

I was in the 11:00 time (I gave then 11:30) and the people in the next lane were talking about how their times were 10:00 (it's self-reported and the slower, the earlier you get to go).

I was even with the guy I shared a lane with for most of the swim until he took a break at the wall and I could finally pull ahead.

I only did flip turns for 3 or 4 laps then got water up my nose and just pushed off the wall from there.
What would you do differently?:

Warm up better. My arms felt tired.
Transition 1
  • 02m 27s
What would you do differently?:

Bike
  • 49h 01m
  • 11.5 miles
  • 0.23 mile/hr
Comments:

Because I was at the end of my swim wave, I was alone most of the course which was weird.

There were some rough edges but overall, good road conditions. Mostly dry with some puddles here and there.
What would you do differently?:

Practice on the bike outside more.
Transition 2
  • 01m 43s
Run
  • 47m 15s
  • 3 miles
  • 15m 45s  min/mile
Comments:

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible. Running, by far, is my worst leg but this is the worst I have ever done. I have been running 13:30 on the treadmill and during bricks. This was my first time doing this race and I didn't know the course. I really psyched myself out and walked the majority of it. Wound up getting a blister on my arch (my feet were soaking wet because the grass was soaked). Really down on myself about it.
What would you do differently?:

Enjoy the run better and get running more. I know I'm not a speedster so embrace why I'm out there - to challenge myself and get better.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched and ate cake:+)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The run. I failed miserable with the mental aspect.

Event comments:

I liked the race (just not my times :+) They also have a duathlon.

My friend who did the race brought a swimsuit to practice in then changed into her trisuit for waiting around before the race.
