Subject: Tri Bike Fit vs. Road Bike

I have a road bike that I'm pretty happy with but I'm thinking down the road of adding a tri bike.  So, I'm keeping my eyes open and looking at different brands.

So, my question is on fit, specifically starting with standover height.  I know there are a lot of dynamics, but it's the first one I consider.  My road bike is almost snug when I stand over it and that seemed like a good starting point.  Is that true for tri bikes?  Should I start my fitting somewhere else?

Any help is appreciated.   Thanks!

Stand over height means absolutely nothing. Yes, by all means, you want clearance (or it could be a very painful experience), but it has nothing to do with bike fit.

Do not spend money on a tri bike without a good bike fit FIRST. There's nothing magical about a tri bike per se... what really makes the difference is the positioning of the rider on a tri bike.
