Chatham, North Carolina

FS Series
52F / 11C
Total Time = 25m 22s
Overall Rank = 19/107
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 1/8
Pre-race routine:

Got up, showered, ate. Picked up Tracy and off to the race.

This was easy and very low key as it was only a ows race.
Event warmup:

Got in 3 min before time to line up. Just got wet. Water felt good. 74 at the shore, 71 deeper water. Perfect :)
Swim
  • 25m 22s
  • 1760 yards
  • 01m 26s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started wide as everyone was bunched tight at the line. Thought I had a ton of open water right away. I did, I was way wide. Coming up to the first turn buoy I was at least 25m wide. Swam in, but still was wide. Never really got back on course until the very end.....like 25m from the mat.
What would you do differently?:

Obviously work on sighting.
Post race
Warm down:

Just hung out with Tracy, Doug and Mike.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Sighting. Was a little sore from Thursday's swim workout, but sighting was a much bigger issue today.

Event comments:

I liked this race. Low key, but had some good swimmers there. Great ows practice.

Only you could be "really wide" and still do a 25' mile.  Nice job Linda!

Great job - I'd say you weren't as wide as you thought you were, AND that you're fast as heck.

Don't beat yourself up.  My sighting was dead on and you still kicked my butt by 10 minutes!!!  Thanks again for the ride.  I had a great time.  We'll have to do that again.

Awesome job, Linda! Would be thrilled to have your swim time, even with the wide sighting. I'm sure you'll get it dialed in as the season progresses and be even speedier than you already are! Congrats on first place!

Great job Linda.  I love the speedy time with the non-straight line.  Can you send just a little speed my way?  :-)
