Subject: swim coach in ABQ

I'm getting tired of trying to swim faster on my own and am looking for a swim coach.  Does anyone have any recommendations for someone in Albuquerque?

Thanks!

Depending on what your current level is - you might consider a class at UNM Continuing Education?

Also, maybe contact a local tri coach to see what your options are there:

Hey Jaagaard, Sports and Wellness has some swimming coaches.  I'm still working on form and not speed, but i have taken lessons with the Aquatic's Director Elizabeth at Midtown Sports and Wellness and she is awesome.  I think she is leaving soon, but they have 3-4 instructors.  They offer $25/.5 hr lessons or you can buy a 4 pack of lessons for $99.  That is for members if you are one.  I'm not sure on price for non-members but a quick call will probably tell you.  Good luck!

Have you looked at this? Long distance stroke analysis- cheaper with group buy.....

Hello jaagaard!  I'm in the same place you are in desiring to improve my swim and feeling like I've done all I can on my own.  I have been considering hiring a coach but just haven't pulled the trigger.  I'm thinking about using one of the coaches recommended by Streamline Swimming.  They are a locally owned swimming equipment company.  Here is their website:

http://www.streamlineswimstore.com/

They have a link on that main page for swim lessons.  I'll post here and let everybody know how it goes if I decide to pull the trigger and get a lesson or two.

Great suggestions!  Thank you all.  Keep us posted, trinity.  Bonafide505 have you tried the long distance service?  Did you like it?

J.....I have not used one of these services- yet- but think it could be effective if you have decent footage. let's face it most of us have very obvious flaws. I had some video taken last summer and am trying to get an old high school friend (ex swimming phenom) to critique, but I think I know what he's going to say: You're crossing over; your feet are not flexible enough; elbows are not high enough; not enough roll; etc.

The trick is finding drills that you will actually do and that will work for you.

Tim Wilde coaches a masters program at Highland Pool. It would be a lot less expensive than other prices that have been listed above, with a lot more one on one coaching.
