The debate rages on at my house.

What's an acceptable time to leave to get to race and adequately set up?

Conditions:

  • We are picking a friend up that's 15 minutes from my house.
  • From there it's around a 35 drive with no traffic to race site
  • Not known if we have assigned rack spots, assume a free for all
  • Transition opens at 5am
  • Closes at 7am

For me it's all about the racking deal. You are the first person I've seen that assumes a free for all. Really hoping you are wrong.  I'm picking up my packet Saturday when we get in town, hopefully they can tell me by then.

To me, it's just silly to have a free for all.  But what do I know.

I'm staying in Overland Park and will probably leave at 4:45 a.m. Google says 30-min drive with no traffic... assume 45-min with race traffic around the lake? Puts me there at 5:30 with an hour and a half to get set up and out of transition.

I'll probably leave a little before 5:00. I seem to remember the spots being assigned last year, and I have a wedding the day before so I'm getting all the sleep I can. Plus my wave doesn't go off until 8:37.

Only takes me about 30 minutes to get over there, and I'm not terribly serious so setup really only means racking the bike and laying out my shoes. Lol. Look for the kswiss catalog wannabe, and come over and introduce yourselves too!!! Have a Good race everyone!
