Who's participating in this year's Anchor Bay Tri?

I am registered. Wanted to do it last year but after doing my first Tri at Hawk Island I took a week off of training which turned into 8 months. I am determined not to let that happen again this year after again doing Hawk Island yesterday and have registered for the AB Tri. I am nervous because swimming is my weakest link and its a 1/2 mile swim versus 1/4 mile at Hawk Island.

I live in New Baltimore so this one is right in my backyard.

Not doing it this year, but did it in '09 and last year.  In '09 it was a straight out and back swim, last yer they changed it to a counter clockwise triangle.  The use a mass start, so it is a bit chaotic at the start.  Compounding things last year, was how they laid the course out.  The swim start goes from the beach area, in the water start, and they had it going about 30 degrees to the left.  Due to the pier, this pushed all swimmers in to a very tight area and I have never had a beat down like I got last year.  Its the only swim where I had to stop and grab kayak.  No stating this to scare you off, but to plan your attack.  I would lay back a bit and let the thrashing unfold in front of you.  Go easy and pick up a draft.

That is such a great little race. It's at a part of the year and distance where you can bang out two races that weekend too. It's just a classic event. Enjoy it and have a great race.

Fun race, I've heard the swim will be out and back this year.
