Im kind of shock that it sold out in 24 hours. Does anyone know how many general entry spots they had?

It's going to be an awesome event...still waiting for them to post Volunteer sign-up info so I can be there (and get early registration for the 2014 race!)

Wow...that's amazing.

Looks like there was a huge demand for a California IM again.

ETA: I wouldn't be surprised if they add another west coast IM in the near future.

I think this partly shows WTC that the May timeframe for St. George was a big drawback to folks who live up north.  September is much, much better for us training-wise.

Honestly, I was really shocked it took that long.  I was warning tri friends on FB over the weekend not to wait if they were really interested...predicted it would sell out sometime Monday.

Me too...my FB was absolutely blowing up with people interested in this race. I thought it would be done in an hour.

X2!! I've got four friends who are doing this race and to say I'm a bit envious is an understatement!! I'm looking forward to volunteering for early registration next (next) year...

I'm still just amazed that so many people have enough time to train for IMs that they sell out regularly. I feel like I train a lot and I'm not even close to intermediate IM training volume.

It is an interesting thought, but that doesn't mean they train as much or more than you though.

IM training in volumes of 20+ hours has gone the way of the DoDo Bird.  You can have a very successful IM race with 12-15 hrs.  It's about training smarter, not harder or longer.

I agree...most of my Ironman training does not even go over 15 hours for the week. (more like 12-14 with a couple barely going over 15) I think I have one week where I'm at about 19 hours, but none over 20. I plan on finishing in 12 hours which is perfectly fine with me.

I'm fairly local and train here regularly. The swim will be great, the run from Squaw to Tahoe City is uphill but not unbearable. But a portion of the bike scared me off from registering. Instead of biking around the lake which has some fairly significant hills of it's own, they chose to route it through Lahanton up past the Ritz at Northstar and then back out to 267 and over Brockway Summit twice. I can handle the long grind over Brockway but the ride straight up the ski slope to the Ritz is not something I can comprehend in a race. Call me a big weanie but I'm going to volunteer for the first one and hope they change this portion in subsequent years when I plan to register. I look forward to seeing all you hill climbers blast up this hill...twice!

I'm in...along with my dad and two brothers. This will be IM #'s 4,4, and 6 for three of us, but the first Tri ever for the one holdout. :DI'm in it solely for the swim and run. The bike will be decent too though....I just love swimming in that lake and the bike path we run on it awesome.

Can't wait for this race! The midnight finish at Squaw will be epic.

If anyone is interested in buddying up for one loop (nice & easy) of the bike course on 8/3, shoot me a message. I don't want to do the 267 descent solo.

O MAN!!!

Why do they get an awesome trip out a tree lined bike path for the run???
When in St Geo we had to grind painful mind-numbing repetitive laps up and down boring city streets?
St Geo has nice bike paths we could have run on.

I feel like the course planners for St George short-changed us. Its a friggen awesome area too!
