Alright....I keep seeing single riders on TT bikes when I am out riding on Saturdays in Greenville ( 101/417/146 area)....and Sunday....hell...any day of the week.  If any of you are reading this (or even if its not you)......we need to meet up and ride and do Bricks together...get a group and go swim/bike/run somewhere.    It makes no sense to train alone and be bored on the bike for hours on end.  Anyone interested?  I am training for Augusta....not that that matters......I just want to get people together and have fun training.   I checked out the upstate try club, but it seems nobody is involved with that any more.

Yes...I know the local shops have rides....and there are some clubs....but not all are welcoming to TT bikes and most people don't swim and run as well.

Anyone?  It would be good to build a group.

I'm in! I train on my own all the time, and would love to have some other people to train with.

Btw, I must be training right where you are (although I only have a road bike). I live on Woodruff and swim at the Sportsclub.

I am in Anderson and we have a couple of group rides that may interest people.  We have a handful of guys that drive from Greenville to do them.  Saturday mornings at 8am we roll out of the parking lot of Newspring Church in Anderson.  Generally we have 25-50 men and women riding and TT bikes are welcome.  The normal ride is about 48 miles with all ability levels welcome.  We usually break into a few different groups based on pace and there is generally a no rider left behind group trailing the rest of the pack so you we won't let anyone get lost.  If 48 miles is not enough then there are usually 6-10 guys going long (up to 100+) based on where their training sits.

There is also a Tuesday night ride out of the square in Pendleton that rolls out at 6.  The main pack in this ride is geared toward road racing.  TT bikes are not allowed in the main pack but if road racing is your thing then this may be a good ride for you.  There are plenty of surges and break away chances over about a 23 mile loop.  Some tri guys also meet for this ride but we either ride out a little earlier than 6 or wait until after the racing guys leave and follow behind with our TT rides.

If anyone needs more information then let me know.

FWIW, part of the Pendleton ride is included in the REV3 HIM. It gives you a little idea on what that ride is like. The actual REV3 HIM route includes a little too much of Hwy 178 to make it safe for a training route IMHO but the Pendelton portion of the route is fine.

I think part of the reason you see TT bikes running solo is they are just not well suited for group rides. A lot of the cycling purist (cycling snobs) won't allow them in their group rides.

My work schedule is too erratic to allow me to do many group rides. I probably do 90% of my cycling alone but when I do ride with a group I use my road bike.

Yeah...I have heard that about the local group rides re:  TT bikes.  I went up to Augusta and Swam and biked with the tri club there.  29 people swimming and riding (TT bikes).  It made training much nicer.  I know many have the Swamp Rabbit Tri Saturday....I will get back to everyone and perhaps we can work out a group ride the following Saturday.

Racing in the Tri the Swamp race this weekend.  Definitely up for a race the following week.  Would be looking to get into ~35 miles.  Glad to hear there are options out in Anderson too.  I work out there from time to time and like to know I could bring the bike as well.

I am in Greenville over by the CU-ICAR loop.  I tend to do that for quick rides and hit up SCTAC on Tuesdays.

i've seen TT bikes every week in the group rides at SCTAC, as well as clipons.  no one really says anything, but they also don't go aero.  kinda interested in the pendleton ride now...might check that out soon.

saw quite a few TT bikes out at ICAR today, i live nearby so i rode over to do a few loops to test out my set up for this weekend... kinda reminded me why i ride the country ride loop out at SCTAC more.  had several cars pass me only to make an immediate right turn and a few came along side me right as the bike lane ended going into the traffic circles...

If the weather holds up I would be happy to do the Paris Mountain loop after race on Sat if anyone else is interested. Another option I have considered is riding to the Winery in Pickens after the race. I just need to get in a few extra miles.

I am not racing this weekend....but thought about trying to get a group together somewhere next weekend to get the ball rolling.  I am supposed to do a 2:30 ride and a 30 Minute run.....but can adapt to whatever others want to do.

Who would be up for a ride next weekend (the 21st?).  I will throw out meeting at 6:30 somewhere to see if that works for others...beat the heat and avoid traffic.   We can find a happy medium on how long to ride......post your interest and ideas on location.

Immediately after the race. Hang around long enough to check times, socialize briefly and re-group. I also like to change my shorts and top so chafing isn't and issue.

...and if 6:30 is too early we can move it back.....open to whatever....just think it would be good to get together and ride and possible run after.  If we want to ride around 101, I can drive around there and find a store/church where we could park...for those who would not ride there.  I know there is a church over there that is empty Saturday mornings.  Again....if anyone has a different loop they prefer....we can do that to.

Who is in for doing something next Saturday?  I will start by saying next Saturday (the 21st), 7:00 am wheels rolling.  2 hour bike with a 20-30 brick.  Location tbd.

I'm assuming you want to do the Paris Mountain loop? It shoud be about 25-30 miles leaving from Furman

Not to try and compete with your group but I usually have to stay within an hour distance from my work in Pickens. I do a long ride on either Sat or Sun. I do a 20 mile loop multiple times until I reach my scheduled distance. If anyone wants to join in for a loop or four they are welcome. We would meet at the Pickens Y.
