Larry, as others in our mentor group have said, it's a privilege to in some small way join you on this journey!  You have made incredible changes and are on a great path.  I had forgotten just how quickly you dropped the weight and got into half ironman shape.  Great job, and may your journey continue to bring you joy and good health!

...  Eat less and move more.  Who would have thought?

I'd write a weight loss book, but it would only have 4 words in it.  Eat Less.  Exercise More.

congratulations on your acheivement.  Enjoy your new-found healthy lifestyle for another 50 years.

Congratulations.

I am impressed that where able to run a whole at 14min/mile when you started.

When I started I don't think I was able to run a whole mile at all, not even at that speed.

Well done.  I did about the same thing last year and am working on my way to my second HIM this fall.  I wish you continued success and hope you stick with it.

Congratulations and thank you for sharing.

I'm trying not to feel like a total slacker after reading that, since I am a year and a half in, and halfway as far, but I'm getting there.

I will be putting your story in my personal BAMF hall of fame.

Not joking...you really should write a book about your experience. It is nothing short of amazing.

Great story, and huge congratulations on your weight loss and athletic accomplishments!  I don't have as much weight to lose as you did, but I still need to lose more and your tale shows it can be done.  Thanks for the (re-)motivation.  Keep up the good work!

Wow! Thanks for sharing your story. You don't sound the least bit preachy or like you're bragging at all -- though you most definitely deserve to! You are inspiring.

Congratulations on your Half and on taking control of your health. Keep it up, I look forward to reading your next race report.

Thank you for all the words of support.  I am truly inspired by this response.  It's cool to see the comments from others who have done something similar, and have been able to keep up the lifestyle.  My challenge now is to keep it up.  I just signed up for a half marathon December 1st.  We have a full near my home next September.  I'm thinking about it, but I know I need to work on my base.

Congrats! I decided in January to start swimming again. That led to me getting into triathlon and buying a bike/gear. Started dieting and before I knew it I have went from 230 at my heaviest to 170! 60 pounds!(6 months) My first him is in September. Very glad there are people like you who help me realize I'm not alone in being crazy as some people have called me.
