Subject: Looking for an Oly event near Philly in October

It seems like most of the calendars fall off the map in early to mid-september.

I am hoping to do an Oly but would prefer to do it in October.

A few reasons, most relate to my sucky swim.

One, I want to be assured that I can use my wetsuit.  I actually prefer cool water temps in the 60's and most OWS temps in the area won't be that cool until October.

Second, most of my swimming is done while I wait for my kids at their swim practice.  They are off for awhile and won't start again until September.  So I have done minimal swimming lately and would like to have at least a month of 2-3x/week swims under my belt.

Any ideas/suggestions??  I would consider a sprint (for example the Blue Man) but would prefer an olympic event, if I can find one within an hour of metro Philly.

I punched in your criteria into tripmapper.com (certainly not exhaustive, but a good start) and the only one that was kind of close looks like the Bassman Fall International distance. http://www.citytri.com/

I did their HIM this spring.  Wasn't bad, but wasn't anything to write home about.

I should have added that I LOVE hills for the bike portion, but one can't have it all, right??

Welp.  That Bassman international (its kind of a funky distance now that I'm looking at it) is flatty mcflatterson.

Rev3 Half Full Olympic distance Oct. 7 in Ellicot City, MD (there is also a half distance the same day, same location).  It has hills and shouldn't be too far a drive for you.  Although deciding this 'late' in the season to race in Oct, you will be paying more for most any race you pick.  Atlantic City, NJ tri is Sept 15 with a sprint or Olympic option.
