#33 - 3.18 miles - I've been fighting increasing boredom with the pre-dawn miles I have available, so I was pleasantly surprised to find the moon up when I got out this morning. A good moon makes available an extra 6 miles of cart path from the golf course. They're the best six miles of running in the neighborhood.

I'm hoping the real hills in my native WV don't make my MD fake hill legs cry this weekend.

Have fun on those hills.

Day 849, 9 miles mostly downhill to get the quads use to it for Boston. Doing some Boston specific training the next few weeks.

How do you manage mostly downhill? It would have to involve walking up something substantial at the beginning or end, right?

#34 - 4 very hilly miles on hometown roads - double the elevation gain from a longer "hilly" Maryland route on Thursday.

My old elementary school looked so small I literally felt like I could step over it.

I had my daughter drive me to where I started running and then just ran home from there. 778 ft downhill and 37 ft uphill on the run yesterday.

#517- 4 mi
#518- 2 mi

Getting some good swim and bike sessions in, and pretty fatigued, but still hoping to get a solid effort run in tomorrow. Last two days were just to get it done.

Day 850 and I have the flu, yuck. 1.2 miles to keep the streak alive. I rarely ever get sick now in the last month a terrible and the flu. AT least they came when I was not racing. Not sure what I will run today but it will be on my treadmill so I am not too far from the bathroom.

Sorry to hear. Plenty of time to recover for Boston though. Its no fun, but it's best to get it out of the way now.

#519- 12 mi

I needed a confidence booster so I went out and ran hard today. 12 miles with 7 miles hard. Did 4 miles easy/warmup. Then 7 miles average 6:41 pace. Then dialed it back for a mile to cool down. I want to average 6:48 for my half in 3 weeks. I guess this is sort of a good sign. I can't push into the 6:30s without my heartrate and breathing going out of any sort of comfort zone, but upper 6:40s seems comfortable enough.

My logic was that the first 4 miles of the race will be all taper/adrenaline. The middle 7 (which I did today) would be all fitness, and the last 2 miles is just gutting it out and mental toughness. I will probably do another similar run in about a week , or maybe a week and a half from now and push to 8 or 9 miles at race pace.

I fell short hitting my intervals during a workout this week (mostly the treadmills fault!!), but got this run and my 16 mile long run in. I should be on track with my running goals, I hope.

Friday - #236 - 2 miles
Saturday - #237 - 4 miles
Sunday - #238 - 2 miles

Been rocking some good bike trainer sessions in the last few weeks. Also feeling better in the pool, dropping some speed work on occasion.

#36 - 2.6 miles - Really disorganized this morning, leaving myself less time for a run than I would like.

#520- 4 mi
#521- 2 mi, a bit stiff today, probably would have worked out if I ran a bit more. Tough swim workout, 2500 yd main set (a lot for me), with short rest intervals (too short!!), 300 yd warm up, 200 cool down. Back to 3000 yards. Feeling more confident about my HIM swim. I just want to beat last years time out of the water.

Tuesday - #240 - 6 miles (speed work intervals)

My legs felt really heavy when I started out, but I got through it a lot better than I expected to. Speed work intervals make the 6 miles go by a lot faster in my mind than an easy slow 6 miles. More physically tortuous, but farso less mentally.

Day 854, 3.4 miles.

Went to the doctor today and I have pneumonia, yuk. I am on an antibiotic and can not run outside unless it is above 50 degrees out before I go back on Monday. I love my Doc though, he is a runner as well and knows about my running streak so he did not even suggest that I do not run, gotta love him for that. Looking at the forecast it keeps me in the garage on the treadmill until maybe Sunday I can get out. I hope I am feeling up to a 20 miler Sunday because I need some miles more for my head than anything else. this setting and laying around the house is getting to me. I have been at work all week either and will not return there until Monday. On the bright side it is better now than 3 weeks from now at Boston and this is forcing me to rest up.

Pneumonia is no joke, take it easy.

You need plenty of fluids and rest. Keep the streak though, obviously I wouldn't try to convince you otherwise, since I would have the same mindset. I don't think I would feel the need to run 20 miles this weekend being diagnosed with pneumonia today though. And another bright side is that you can add "and I ran through a bout of pneumonia during the streak!" To your running two 100 mile ultras during the streak.

#522- 5.5 mi, 3 x 1 mi repeat 6:31, 6:27, 6:19, with 2 min recovery jog. Tough bike workout this morning too. All this work better pay off on race day. I didn't do half the intensity last year. And half would be generous.

Great workout.

Easy 4 miler in today as a bit of recovery from yesterday's speed work. Then came home and did a pretty good session on Trainer Road.

I'm ready for spring weather so I can run and bike comfortably outside.
