Anyone have course data? Specifically, total elevation gain/loss. I'm hoping I've been putting in enough hill work for this one! I could also use an experienced runner to take a look at my logs and make sure I'm on the right track.

Anyone else in?

I will post my Garmin file from last year when I get home. There are three very memorable hills. The one going up to liberty memorial, one in brook side and the one at about mile 22. It is at the spot where the halfs split off. You will be very jealous when the do. You don't see that spot for another 13 miles. The first 4 or 5 miles are very congested. The turn around at the memorial was so packed you either got on the grass and ran or walked.

Dont mind the last 10 minutes or so. I forgot to hit stop and I was busy drinking beers with Patrick and Reece.

Thanks Jon, that's exactly what I was looking for. I managed about the same elevation in 8 fewer miles, so at least I know I'm on the right track.

You guys would be at least 4 beers in before I manage to finish.  Laughing

Kansas is not as flat as one is lead to believe.......

No making fun of my pace either, I was trying to keep HR fairly low.  ;-)

Edit to fix link, and spelling.

Good luck to all of you who are running in the KC marathon/HM this weekend. I hope these brutal winds die down before Saturday.

Hope is stays warm... since the finisher shirts aren't free this year.  Nice little jab in an email Monday.  Want one?  Pay for it.  That's kind of cheap.

I saw the email selling them, can't imagine making a change like that will go over very well.

Especially the week before when most people have already signed up and expected a finisher shirt.  No shirt, fine.  Make it public with the first email about the event, not the Monday before.

That is nuts! I can't believe they are making you pay for the finisher shirt.  I like the idea of having some items be a la carte but it should be noted up front when registering.

Good luck to all the KC marathon runners though!  It is not an easy course.

I imagine there will probably be a decent pile of those shirts left. Wait a couple weeks, they'll be on clearance somewhere. Agree that it's kind of a bogus deal though. Now, if by some freak accident I manage sub 4, I'll probably still buy one. lol. Thinking 4:20 may be more like it though so I imagine my $$ is safe. Thinking about it, even WTC and Disney give you finisher shirts.

Perfect day for a run! Great course. Not so great of a run. Either I make crappy shoe choices or there's some thing terribly wrong with my form at that distance! Did see Ryan and M.A. though.

You can't ask for a better day for a marathon. Never thought I would run into Corey at the first station of portapotties. Good times. Thought the event was great and well staffed. Did hear that the free BBq left a little to be desired.

I chuckled about that too. I just caught the tri top out of the corner of my eye and was thinking "I bet I know that guy"

You're right, the weather was first rate and the course wasn't quite as bad as I expected. The climb that lasts forever on the way back was probably the worst, but at that point my race had gone from salvaging a secondary goal to convincing myself not to DNF.

I didn't get any Beer or BBQ. Had to get to a birthday party then a MTB race.
