I'm not sure that WTC will ever release a hard and fast number, but I would say 2,500 would be close.  That is about the going number these days.  IM Louisville had close to 3,000 but that is probably because of the time trial start.  FWIW, the wave start at IM 70.3 Augusta allowed 3,400 people to race.
