I did Be iron fit this year for my 2nd IM and I loved it.

My question is do you thing you could take the Competeive plan and only do 1/2 of the perscribed workout and be perpared for a fast 1/2 IM.

I wish Don Fink had a 1/2 IM Book!!

I designed my training for a HIM roughly around his full plan.  He calls for you to do a HIM during his IM training.  I hit the HIM in his schedule about 6-7 weeks earlier than my planned HIM.   Then upped everything about 10% until my race.   Worked fairly well for me.  YMMV    I agree, it would be nice if he had a specific HIM plam.

ETA: here is his web site.  You can get a custom plan. http://www.donfink.com/Services-and-Fees.html

I used his competitive plan for my HIM this year.  I made it a 20 week plan I started on week 3 and went through week 22 which is the week he has you scheduled for a 70.3.  Week 20 and 21 I scaled back to taper.  It worked well for me and I plan on doing the same thing for next years 70.3.

I did something similar and it worked for me as well.  The swim sessions at that point are probably overkill for HIM distance (3,500 yards each) but you could always scale those back if you like.

I just used the competitive plan up to week 22 where he has the HIM race planned. Tapered on Week 20 & 21. Worked great.

No.  For a fast HIM, you are going to want to do almost the same volume as for an IM.  You can back off the longest rides and add some more effort.
