Hey all,  I just bought the GS10 and can't get the pedal magnet to stick to the crank arm.  The adhesive mount isn't all that sticky and the cable tie can't lock the magnet down sufficiently.  Just wondering if anyone else has run into this issue and what was done to overcome it.  I'm thinking I'll just use some glue, but want to see what others have done.  If it matters, im trying to install it on a P2.

thanks.

You can buy magnets that stick to inside of the pedel axle. You can get them cheep online.

Did you you pull the zip ties tight as far they can go with a pair of pliers? You could then put a piece of black electrical tape over it.I don't have the garmin on my p2 but do have a magnet on the arm with a zip tie. I have the gs10 on my road bike but it looks like it would work on the p2...maybe try moving it all the way back towards the pedal...good luck!

I have a P2 and had no issues installing the same thing.

If I remember correctly, I couldn't find a good use for the adhesive mount so I didn't use it.  I yanked the cable about as tight as possible and it doesn't move.   I might've actually used a pair of needle nose pliers to get a good grip to pull it tightly.  I can take a photo tomorrow AM if you think that'll be helpful.

Hi Ann Marie,

I lost the crank magnet the first ride I took after installing my GSC.  I now use a cheap craft magnet.  I have lost several, as I don't glue them to my crank or anything, but they are inexpensive, so I just replace

The solution seems obvious....you need new cranks! Laughing

I personally did not have any issues with the two sided tape provided by Garmin (same magnet and 2 sided tape are still on my crank arm 3+ years with no zip tie).  I think a lot of depends on the shape and even material of your crank arms.  My Hollowgrams are aluminum and completely flat (which seems like the perfect combo), while I know some of the carbon cranks are much more rounded and can be difficult to get a good bond.  Try some different two sided tape.  Or tape and/or something like superglue.  Velcro may work also.

Try duct tape or electrical tape.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Looks like I'll either buy a stronger magnet and mount it on the spindle area ( cranks wont hold a magnet) or get some strong 2 sided tape. - maybe the kind you can find in an automotive store.

I think my original one lasted for the first 4 rides. Laughing

I think that it's really depends on the shape of the crank arm. :-(

lots of people just buy an earth magnet that will fit inside the hole of the crank where the pedals are. because of the metal in the spindle of the pedal, it doesnt fall out and will still trigger the gsc10.

Black electrical tape over mine, along with adhesive and zip tie.
