Well, I've signed up to step up.  Doing the HITS Marble Falls Olympic race.  All part of my master plan to get to IMTX 2014.  Olympic as a step to a HIM this year, all part of the series of steps to prep for the final goal.

Really worried about the swim, weak swimmer here.  I've been watching the TI videos on YouTube and trying to work on technique on my own, and have signed up for one of the weekend TI clinics here locally in Feb.  So hopefully by the time a late April race rolls around I will be just fine and swimming smooth like a fish.  I'm not looking to be first out of the water by any means, I'm just looking to get out of the water with some energy left.  Feel like I burned (wasted) so much energy last season on my sprint swims.

You will be fine and the swim wont be that much worse then a sprint. Will the race be wetsuit legal that time of year? If so, that will be a big help. I would start working gradually on increasing your swim distance during training. I am sure that while training for one of your sprints, you probably have covered the distance before. There is a saying at my work that I apply to swimming, "Fast is not fast, smooth is fast". Good luck with the OLY, I am also like you doing my first HIM this year in prep for my first full IM in 2014. My swim needs improvement too.

Congratz on signing up for your next step. I did the same last year with a similiar situation. For me getting to OWS prior to the race helped alot. For me OWS is easier than lap swimming. I believe your Oly. is in Napa? If so, hopefully you will be able to use a wetsuit, they help alot also. GOOD LUCK

The swim at Marble Falls is really nice.  It was wetsuit legal last year, so I bet it will be this year too even though it hasn't been very cold this winter.
