Subject: accuracy of New Balance shoe size?

I have always run on Asics Nimbus (size 11). Using Zappos guidelines, I should wear a size 11 shoe. However... I own a pair of all black New Balance everyday shoes (not real running shoes). Their size is 10.5, and they are way too big.

Anyone have comments? Is the issue the difference in sizing for everyday shoes and real running shoes? Or, is the issue New Balance sizing? Honestly, my size 11 looks to translate to a 10, or even 9.5, New Balance. That seems crazy.

btw: My beloved Nimbus have gotten too expensive. And, I want to experiment with a different shoe. So, I will not play it safe and get another pair of Nimbus size 11.

They are dead on for me. I was measured using the Brannock device in my local store. It says I need a 10.5 and that is what size NB I wear.

Now bear in mind that the toe box on different shoes can be radically different, even within a brand.

I certainly would never order a new shoe type over the internet without knowing how it would fit ahead of time.

done deal. I'll get a size-11! I have Amazon Prime. So, they will allow a return, no question asked, and pay for the return shipping. Your observation about the toe box is spot-on. Compared to wearing my worn-out Nimbus, my NB feels like it has a cavernous toe box.

This is something I learned the hard way. I switched from the NB Minimus MT10 Trail to the NB Minimus Zero Road and had a huge issue with toe box size. I ordered over the internet and it took me a little while of running to figure out that was a real issue.

Yeah, I'll second the shoefitr.  Put in your current shoes (model and size) and it will give you a size recommendation for the new shoe and will show how the new shoe will fit.

Shoefitr worked for me.  I used shoefitr on the website I usually order shoes from but not until after I ordered shoes for my daughter that turned out to be too big.  They were Saucony's but a different model from the Saucony's she had been wearing.  I went back and did the shoefitr "after the fact" and it recommended a half-size smaller.  It did the same thing when I switched to a different model running shoe but the same company (Saucony again).

New Balance has always fit me the same between Tennis Court shoes and various running shoe models but you never know.  They were also the same as the Saucony running shoes I had been wearing but not the current model I'm using.

thank you for all the support.

shoeftr was interesting. I think it basically said the Nimbus 13 (size-11) is exactly like the NB m890 (size-11). Yet, Amazon is selling the m890 for almost half the price of a nimbus! And, the Amazon price is $10 less than the RunningWarehouse price. The m890 cost just $50 for AmazonPrime. Can't wait for them to be delivered.

thanks.
