Subject: ROAD TRIP!!!

I've been toying with this idea for a bit, and finally decided to pull the trigger and just do it.

I have a friend in Denver that is getting married in May, so rather than take a boring old flight and spend all my vacation time in one city, (and pay to transport my bike) I have decided to do a "training" road trip to Denver.

I am hoping that some fellow BT'ers live in the cities I am planning on stopping in.  The idea is that on those days - local BT'ers can show me their favorite bike rides and or runs in their home towns.  This way, I finally get to meet some people on here in real life, I get to see a couple cities I have never been to, and I get to make some new friends along the way.

Below are the dates, cities and scheduled workouts.  If you live in one of these cities, I would love to meet up with you and train together.  Please let me know.

5/21/13Boise, IDBike Run Brick (10 Mile / 4 Mile)7:00 a.m.Need Tour Guide

P.S.  I'm planning on paying for hotels in these cities, but I will also have a blow up air mattress with me and, in the interest of saving money, I am open to sleeping on any available floor of new found friends in these cities.  No pressure there.. just throwing it out there.

Hoping this idea comes together nicely.  If there are multiple people in these cities that want to train together, the more the merrier.

Please post below if you can make any of these dates / times and are available to be my tour guide / workout partner.

Also - after all training sessions, I will have no plans, so a meal and maybe a beer or 2 might be in order.

I need to check out where my friend the Iron Cowboy lives in Utah - he did 30 IM last year....he's a machine and a good coach - seriously nice guy.  He would love to 'give back' for all those folk who housed him last year.

I'll have an investigation for you.

Other than that I got nothing - unless you need a Sherpa!

Just checked he's in Lindon about 36miles south of SLC.  I'm sure he'd be up for a visit - he sure visited a few last year himself!  He would definitely be up for a training session that's for sure.

Would love to join in on a training session for SLC, except that I'll be driving back from St G Oly, that's the day before.

If you can hook-up w/ James (IronCowboy) down in Utah Co, there are some great ride/run options (my favorite tooth grit ride is over Traverse Mtn on that end of the Salt Lake valley , then you head to the city park in Draper and run the Porter Rockwell trail).  Another favorite for south of Salt Lake is riding on the south end of Utah Lake from Springville (but I can't think of any runs in that area).  If you're driving in on 70, you will pass through Utah County.

If time approaches and you still need a tour guide for SLC, let me know, our tri club is always posting long Sunday workouts (however, they are usually am's).

As well... if you don't find any takers for the Denver ride, check out the bike course for Harvest Moon Half Course.  You could just OWS at Aurora Res (might be a bit chilly that early) then hop on your bike.  It's a great ride, just make sure you print and bring the map (or track down Steve on the Colorado forum, he should know the course now   ).  Oh, and it's one of those rides that doesn't matter which way you're headed, it's ALWAYS into the wind, lol

Jo - love the suggestion to do an the Saint George Oly.  Unfortunately, won't be able to fit it in my schedule.

Geauxtri - Thanks for the suggestions - I will email Ironcowboy.  If I can't hook up with anyone in Utah - I will research the suggested routes.

Still looking for training buddies in all states (Except maybe Idaho - but I'm sure more could join us if it works out right.)

I am looking forward to this road trip so much.

She is. The race is on Saturday (gotta love Utah and anti-Sunday for anything but church stance).

Woo Hoo - looks like I have a tour guide in Boise for an OWS / run brick on Monday the 20th... possibly a ride (depending on time of day) on Tuesday.

Still looking for the good folks in Montana to step up..  This trip starts on Wednesday - not much time left to plan.
