how do u work out the correct seat height? is there a formulae of some sort?

Sit on your bike while leaning against a wall, or door jamb, or in a trainer

Get your pedals in the 12:00 and 6:00 positions
that's straight up and down
look down at your leg in the six o'clock position,
Your knee should be almost, but not quite straight

Personally I reccommend using the above time-honored method mixed with real-world experience (in other words, do the rough adjustments as above, then take the bike out for a short ride in a quiet area, and take a wrench and a bit of tape with you)
the tape is so that you can mark your previous adjustments without having to scratch your seatpost

cool sounds good thanks

the thing is when i am going fast, especially on a slight decline i can feel my bottom coming out the seat which makes the bike unstable, and hard to hold a good position, i figure this may mean the seat needs to be higher
