Heat and humidity mean shorter runs at perhaps slower speeds with much more hydration pre and post. Running in those conditions, for the first time it was the oppressive heat/humidity, rather than my own fitness, that prevented me from doing more/better. Get out there. It could be like that on race day.

I decided yesterday that 114f is too hot for running. Usually on Thursdays I run after swimming at the lake, but yesterday I just didn't want to.

i am from louisiana and run every day around 5:00 (during the summer) when the temp is, for example yesterday, 94, but feels like 97 because the humidity is around 60%.

I haven't had any problems yet in this heat, as long as I stay well hydrated-2 to 3 23 oz bottles of water per day. Also, I always make sure to cool down appropriately. The one time I did not cool down, I was rushed to get to a softball game, and my body temp. stayed rather high for quite a while.

Hydration is key and good luck!

Seek out sprinklers in neighborhoods-they are lifesavers! and it feels fun to run through them like a kid. i've had some strange looks though when i run around in a person's yard, back and forth through their sprinkler.

if i'm not running in the early morning or evening i avoid routes that have long stretches without shade. there's nothing worse than doing a long run on a country road with no shade in sight.
