Ok, so maybe I cheated a little. The buddies I was running and riding with had time constraints, so I did the HIM backwards.

I started w/the half marathon (kept 9 minute pace, which is goal for IM).
Then I biked 56 miles (3:55:59, a little slower than I wanted, but there were some good hill climbs!)
Then I swam 1.2 miles (1:05, I was tired and leg cramping, so I was mainly pulling myself through the water w/my arms).

So, what I learned:
my fueling plan was solid
I need to get a noseless saddle...my prostrate just can't take all that pressure! NO ED HERE PEOPLE!

Question:
the transition from running to riding seemed way easier than riding to running...thoughts?
the total time was a bit over 7 hours. If I keep my training up, would I be realistic in expecting to do 14 for Full IM in two months?

Thanks!

Ian

Probably closer to 15-16 hours.

that's what I was assuming, just trying to be optimistic. it's also my assumption that the bulk of extra time would be on the ride. thoughts?

Does a degree or two difference between two frames(head and/or seat tube) really make that much of a difference when it comes to fit?

I quickly browsed an article in Men's Health that talked about doing a triathlon, and how it wasn't really that hard. With a "tsk!" I quickly turned the page while thinking, "Yeah, right!"

You’re probably not going to get it just right immediately. Like always, just do the best you can and keep on keeping on. Don’t get upset if you don’t hit the target every time.

Work your weakness. In the sport of triathlon, most coaches agree that you should spend the most time working on your weakest of the three sports. For many of you this will be swimming!
