Subject: Sprint the Gaps, Vogal State Park GA
September 15th, 2013

Come and experience the fun that is cycling in North Georgia. Located a little over an hour north of Atlanta, this race is a great late season sprint with a 600 yard swim, 14 mile bike and 4 mile run. The bike section is up and over the famous Wolfpen Gap. Come race this event with Tour de France like switchback climbing. Some like to say swim, bike, run…we like it to be swim, suffer, run. Are you tough enough?

As the fog cleared, the buoy that I first saw earlier in the morning was just the first marker in a very long line of buoys that stretched across the lake like a runway for a 747 jetliner.

At first I thought, "Oh boy, what a mistake!" Let’s face it, I could barely run half a mile, I had not swum in forever, and my biking skills were not great, to say the least.

My sister warned me about being used as a launch ramp by faster swimmers but much to my surprise I was the one swimming over those in front of me. I went around one woman, then another.
