When you were done with breakfast and you'd take off with your friends on your Huffy only to return when it was nearly supper time (or when you heard your mom screaming for you two blocks away).  Think parents just let their kids go like that now?  I don't think I would...

I use to wear cotton Tube socks with either two red or blue stripes on the top part of sock.

Also remember running in track practice with Blue Converse High Tops.

Gas was 29 cents per gallon.

You could go to the store with 5 cents and come out with a bag full of candy.

I could listen to the top 15 hits of the week on AM radio.

When channel 5 started in Boston and then we had 4 TV channels to choose from.

My next door neighbor gloated because his Betamax was better than my VHS.

You could go to the Red Sox game and sit in the bleachers for a dollar.

It was safe to hitch hike.

McDonalds came to town, a hamburger was 15 cents, fries were 12 cents and you got change back from your dollar.

OK........I'm going back to the nursing home now.

I have Season 1 of Greatest American Hero on DVD. I wonder if anyone will notice if I leave work now to go home to watch it?

My bike also has 10 speeds and round drops. I'll probably keep it for a couple of years before gettign a TRI bike.

What about Picture Pages? I always wanted the marker that made those noises.

Heh.  Back in the day when we'd see a particularly hot 'n' wild looking girl (big eighties hair, sexy clothes, KMDAFM boots) we'd say she looked like an E ticket ride at Disney World.

Men are pigs.  Snort.

I remember when:

- my road bike only had one gear

- there were only 2 tv channels, one English and one French

- girls wore dresses and boys wore slacks and shirts (not t-shirts) in grade school

- guys got suspended if their hair touched their ears or if they had facial hair - in HS

- Jackie Gleason was the king of television

- kids played outside games such as tag, hide-n-seek, football, baseball and hockey without adult interference

- gas was less than 50 cents a gallon

How about...I'm just a bill...sittin on capital hill...

And when if you got in trouble with your friend, their Mom would paddle you too.  And if you went home and told your mom that you got paddled by your friends mom, you'd get another one because you deserved it.  Not...how dare they touch my child.

I'll PM you about the DVD.

Conjunction Junction whats your function?......

My wife and I are raising our son the same way we were. I believe no child deserves to be paddled, but if they earned it then they get it. And if it happens to be a friend's mom thats fine. I'll take his parents to dinner.

Remember when you sometimes had to adjust Vertical Hold on a TV or the picture would constantly flip.

Remember when there was only 3 channels to watch.  Maybe 4 if the snowy PBS station came in.

There was an end to the TV broadcast day, signing off with the Stars and Stripes waving in the background.  HBO was a big deal.

Pomegranets were the most exotic fruit sold at the supermarket.

Going out to dinner was a big deal, and the only 'ethnic' restaurant was the 'Hong n Kong.'

Rotary's made sense instead of just being car sling-shots.

Toy's required imagination.

Malls were smaller than a square mile.

The milkman delivered to the little metal box by the front step, and you could drive by the dairy farm and the garbage man, Mr. McKennedy collected from the waste bucket by the back door and you could go to his farm and visit the pigs.

A postcard took a penny stamp.  People cared about the value of the penny.

Drive-in Movies.

Nobody cared about low fat.  Food was your friend!
