Subject: RE: Weird pain behind the top of my kneecap. I've had similar symptoms in both knees for a year. I assumed it was chondromalacia, tendinitis and/or knee tracking issues and started rehab to address those issues. They weren't working. I finally saw an orthopedic specialist who did an x-ray and a few other tests that helped him determined it wasn't chondromalacia at all but rather bursitis. The sac behind the kneecap becomes inflamed and swollen. The fix is to ease up on activities that aggravate it for awhile (for me it's mainly biking and hiking down steeper terrain, similar to how it feels down the stairs), ice and avoid kneeling if possible. |
