Sunny
Total Time = 1h 16m 38s
Overall Rank = 49/187
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 6/12
Pre-race routine:

I had to make an hour drive from where I was staying in Albuquerque. I ate a Picky Bar on the way and drank some Gatorade.
Event warmup:

Didn't really get to the race early enough to warm up. I set up my transition after checking in and then it was time to line up.
Swim
  • 09m 24s
  • 400 meters
  • 02m 21s / 100 meters
Comments:

I don't know why I had such a hard time here. Maybe the elevation. But I came out of the pool totally gassed and walked to T1.
Transition 1
  • 02m 13s
Comments:

I swam without my top on. I had difficulty putting it on while I was wet in T1.
What would you do differently?:

Swim with my tri top on
Bike
  • 38m 21s
  • 12.5 miles
  • 19.56 mile/hr
Comments:

I got a slow start on the bike. I was beat after the swim so I took it easy until I felt recovered. The bike course was hillier than I was expecting.
Transition 2
  • 01m 54s
Run
  • 24m 43s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 58s  min/mile
Post race
Event comments:

This was a fun race overall. Well run and a good course. I was slack on preparation and execution, but I would do it again.

My first triathlon was at age 56. At first I was just the cameraman at my daughter's first triathlon, then I am doing the races that she has done.
