Subject: All World Athlete Was wondering what you all thought of the Ironman AGR rankings. In my inaugural 70.3 year, I ran 2 Ironman 70.3 events (Galveston and Miami, the latter by far the better one ). The AGR rankings take your best 3 in Ironman, 70.3 or combined categories and give you points for each race (max of 3 races ) based on your time against the winner in your age group.
I made top 6% world, top 7% US and received the Bronze All World Athlete for 70.3. Had I run one race only, I would have been much further down the ladder, and had I run one more, somewhat better. I'm not (yet ) a top 7% Ironman 70.3 athlete in any given race, so the results are skewed unless you compare to people with the same number of races I guess. Perhaps they should have averaged the scores instead...but summing them up they promote more participation I suppose.
Anyways, thoughts? Edited by FranzZemen 2014-02-15 10:40 AM
