I have a nice pair of 2XU tri shorts which have a leg seam which is unraveling. How can this be fixed? Any special thread/patch/sewing pattern? The hole is about 2" long on the inside leg seam, halfway between the leg opening and the crotch of the shorts.
I had a set of 400 mile bib shorts with a seam giving. DeSoto told me to send them back in. They hooked me up and basically made them new again. Never asked for a dime.
Of course when I bought two more 400 mile bib shorts I probably more than made it worth their public relations in that case
It all depends on the material, I know jammers made from lycra become drag suits once you have a seam go or a hole. Its not impossible to fix, but costly and difficult. I tend to go bulletproof in material and look for polyester blends they stand up to chlorine and use.
I've had a lot of problems with the quality of 2XU gear. Seems to wear out prematurely. Short seams fraying, lettering peeling off and zippers breaking on the tops. Gave up on them and have started using LG stuff instead. Very happy with it so far.
In part two of this series of common roadside bike repairs, we show you how to fix a flat tire. Though if you're lucky, a bicycle repairman will wheel by at just the right time.
