I just looked back to the beginning of the season and we had 23 people complete the challenge for January! We're down to 6 in September.

Updating my totals, whiffed on friday's workout, watched football on Saturday, did a great ride with a bunch of Aussies on Zwift on Sunday, slept instead of working out yesterday and rode and swam today.

I have to do my race report yet, but my HIM went sideways and I turned in a 7:06:18 I was disappointed in my results, but considering I was considering dropping out before I reached the first buoy I'm glad I was able to finish the race. I am happy with my 2:14 Half marathon run. I will post the report later, but here is the story.

Tuesday before the race I was going for a swim. When I zipped up my wet suit the zipper came off. Two of the teeth on the zipper broke. I was able to zip it up the the last 4" of the wet suit. I was able to swim in it, so I figured I was good to go, I just wanted to make sure I couldn't over zip it and pull the zipper off.
Friday night the water was 69 deg, so that is no problem. Overnight the water temp dropped to 55 deg. I can swim in 50 deg water, so I figured this is ok. The race started and my wet suit filled with water through the 4" hole. I was hypothermic before I reached the first buoy. I started breathing fast, then started vomiting. That was a first for my, vomiting while swimming. I called over the lifeguard and went on her paddle board and contemplated calling it a day. I warmed up, then got mad at myself. I decided to finish the swim.
Getting out of the water, I was still cold and was struggling in T1. I took 9:29 in T1, my slowest transition ever. I started the ride, but I was still lethargic, but we had a 15 mph wind coming out of the North. I did not feel normal on the bike until the half way point. My bike was extremely slow. T2 was also slow and bad. I did accomplish, for the first time ever, peeing on the bike (its the little victories).
Race report tomorrow.

Sounds like a rough race but you persevered and finished. You also beat my one and only 70.3 time by a few minutes so there is that too

Looks like a zipper repair or new wetsuit is in your future.

Wow!! Sounds like a tough day all around. I am really impressed that you got back into the race after throwing up. I would have definitely bailed out of the swim. I will second Mitch's recommendation on DeSoto. I have been using one of their wetsuits for going on 6 years now.

Adding in today's runch 39:33. The first one after a big effort is always the worst.

Thanks guys. I am shopping (on line) tonight. I have about two more weeks I can swim, if I can get a wet suit. I might try my daughter's, I'm not sure it will fit, she's 5"11" mostly leg. I think its a a medium long.

43min night mountain bike ride. I also signed up for a "triathlon swim workout" program at our local rec center. The description - "Get a head start on Triathlon season with specific swim technique improvement. This course is not a swim lesson but a chance to perfect your technique and improve your fitness level" I hope that it can put me on the right track to finally learning how to swim correctly with good form.

Last week I realized I was so far off in my training schedule for IM Arizona in Nov that I had almost accepted that I would not do it.  Then on the weekend I watched one of those IM motivational videos that had an amputee and blind triathletes completing the race and the message "what is your excuse" and it hit me deep down, I have no excuse.  So I'm taking a big dose of HTFU and will try to ramp up for the experience of IM Arizona!

Actually, there is an add banner below our thread sometimes (at least I see it) for DeSoto saying 20% off with coupon code TRIDESOTO15.

Dave, congrats on taking the KOM on your ride!

Adding my HTFU ride yesterday of 111miles in 5:47 + 15 min brick run.  I went out with two friends who have been training consistently for IM Arizona and was glad to have gone with them and push myself to the limit to finish a tough, but confidence boosting ride.  Today 1hr drainer

Cycled each of the last three days. Finding my spring power has improved a lot of late. Think I attribute that to the rides I've been doing pulling my 5 1/2 year old on the tow behind with my mountain bike. Getting close to the top rankings on some Zwift Strava segments.

Your training plan is a guide but you don’t blindly follow it. You shouldn’t know exactly what you are going to do until the day you are to do it.
