Hey guys!  Good morning!  This week flew by!

5:00am--OFF, slept in and did a nice little 30 minute treadmill walk, some stretching.  Aaaaaaaaah.

Three day weekend here in Nevada for MLK Jr Monday....yahoo!  Have a fantastic day!  Who is racing this weekend?

No race--actually there is a road race series here this weekend, but I wanted to do the HM as a training run and when I tried to sign up last week, they said entries were closed. Just don't feel like paying money to race 5K or 10K when I've just come off my end of year break from running (plus I've been low-grade sick all week). Pasting today's workout from my log because, in retrospect, it's kind of funny.....

Trainer ride on tri bike. Lots of trouble getting started as Youtube wouldn't stream. Thought it was my computer but wouldn't work on I-pad either. Just sucky WiFi. MP3 player out of battery as well. Not feeling healthy enough to do a regular workout and the stop and go streaming was driving me nuts, so did "Vietnamese Internet Kona": Ride hard when the video is streaming, easy when it isn't. How bad is our Internet?

Longest hard stretch: 24 pedal strokes (less than 20 seconds)
Longest easy stretch: 36 pedal strokes (less than 30 seconds)

In an hour, got to 27 minutes on the video.

Really, really hoping I can get healthy enough over the weekend to actually start training for the HIM in May that I'm signed up for.

Good Morning

I will be over at the pool at lunch 2500M swim on tap and some Core, then working the Dogs after work at the agility practice arena for a couple of hours, then 2 1/2 HR bike class tomorrow morning at 8 AM. So a pretty active next 24 hours for me.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning!

garmin user fail this morning. Headed out on my run and forgot to hit "Start" on my 910xt. Once I realized, I pressed start and after another couple minutes, realized it was still in Swim mode from yesterday. argh. Luckily I was still in my neighborhood and know most of the milage by memory .

9 miles once it was all said and done. Felt good!

Both my kids are home sick today, so hopefully I can get outside for some TRX, but that's about it!

I am racing the full in Carlsbad on Sunday.

Carlsbad Marathon

This morning I parked at the beach and ran from Moonlight down to George's and back and then jumped in the ocean for the swim with the Tri Club. (6 Mile Run, 2000 Meter Swim)

Train Well Cool Kids and have a great weekend

Scheduled for a long easy ride on the trainer tonight but tweaked a hamstring last night doing lunges. I'll see how it goes. May take it easy thru the weekend. Intensity jumps starting next week on the bike and I hope to get a used treadmill this weekend for adding runs.

Went for a 8.3 km run. Didn't push it too hard because it was - 19 C (-2 F) and I don't feel like pushing cold air quickly into my lungs. It gives a kind of achy feeling. I don't think there's any danger of doing it damage at that temperature. Any experts out there know anything about lung freeze?

Not an expert but when I was studying Chinese in Harbin (northeast China, not that far from Siberia and about as cold!) I ran in temps like that and colder (down to about -20) all the time with no ill effect, and saw quite a few locals doing so as well. The air is warmed and moistened by your breathing passages by the time it hits your lungs. Frostbite would be a bigger concern. i used to smear my face with Vaseline to keep it from freezing. That being said, cold air can irritate your bronchial tubes, esp. if prone to asthma. So you might want to save the high intensity for the gym treadmill.

Kim--Vietnam 70.3 on May 10. Saturday AM and still not feeling healthy. Grrrr.....

I'm on the other side of the college-student desk. I'm the one with the red pen in my hand. Those of us with schedules that change from day to day actually have an advantage, I think.
