quick question - do you guys/gals pay the extra for the details of higdon's plans or just go on the basic ones available for free? are they worth the $$?

have just re-upgraded my membership here so ££ are a bit tight hence the q.

thanks

I didn't pay extra for the plan details and have fared just fine. Weekly descriptions of the runs seem to be just fine.

Hired a trainer instead.

Hmmmmmm I don't understand your question. Look at this page:

http://www.halhigdon.com/10ktraining/10knovice.htm

each day describes the workout. Below the table is some text explaining what each workout means. Are you looking for more information? Because, in the past, this has been enough for me -- I've done his novice 5K, intermediate 5K, inter 10, and the inter half-mary.

Oooh ... spooky! I just printed that page about 2 minutes prior to that last post. It has sufficient detail for me.

i get that bit but he also writes

See the week-by-week screens for more detailed information on what to run each day and tips for your training

that is the bit that confuses me!

Go to that page ... click on the Virtual Plan link ... find the plan that interests you then peek at the plan preview. See if the information is useful to you.

yeh i've done that and tbh it doesn't look that useful. i think i'll stick with the freebie one and enjoy my bronze membership here

good luck with your running 1foot.

Thanks! After looking at the detailed sample, I decided the same ... absolutely no more information than you could get here ... and maybe catch a little flak from bear at the same time.

Excuse me ... I must go to the restroom now.

Good luck with your running, too!

I wonder if maybe there was once a link there but is gone now, because I'm using his Inter I Marathon program and in that, the week number is underlined in blue and it is a link to the weekly description.

FWIW,I think you'd do fine with the information you have. In the mary plan he gets  a little more specific but not all that much.  It's stuff like - "Run how you feel today" or "Don't overdo the cross training, you have a big week ahead".

Sorry for the confusion.

Here's the summary page I'm referring to for the Advanced Intermediate plan:

http://www.halhigdon.com/marathon/advancedint.htm

Clicking on the weekly number for week 3 brings up the daily detail for that week:

http://www.halhigdon.com/marathon/advanced1/advanced1-3.htm

Good luck to ya!
