Good morning all!  I've been sleeping in the last few mornings and it has been awesome!

Heading out again with the doggies...easy three mile run.  Tomorrow I have a threshold run--never done one but based on my coach's description I'm a little scared!

Signed up for two 70.3s last night--IM St. George 70.3 (going back for a third time...glutton for THAT punishment!) and Toughman Utah Half in July.  Never done that one but it looks great.

Have a great day!

That threshold run sounds painful Kim. Hopefully it's not too long. I'm thinking that would feel like the last mile of a 5K, if you're going hard like you should, it just hurts!

I had one of those "outside of your comfort zone" rides this morning. One of the local cycling clubs came up with a ride called BIG MEDICINE. Basically 30 miles of steep climbs with some recovery in between each. 3,850 feet of climbing over 30 miles. Pretty much the toughest 30 miles I've ever done. Lots of grades over 10% and a few over 20%. Glad I have 28 teeth on my rear cassette

36 mile Z1 bike today, enjoyed the brisk weather as it was 38F when I left the house and only 42F on my return. My kind of morning

Lucky you on the races! St. George sounds cool. I was hoping you'd do Cour de Alene 70.3 so we could meet up, though!

I don't how big Toughman is in Utah, but the one Toughman event I did (in Washington state) had only 66 takers for the HIM distance. There might have been two or three hundred total participants--as I recall, they were holding a 5K run, sprint tri, 10K, Oly, and HM that day. Organization was, shall we say, fairly casual. Some aid stations were not even staffed, no mile or km markings. It would definitely put me off another Toughman event. But maybe some are better organized??

AM: One hour run, for once just running--no stride drills or fartlek or anything to think about except maybe Thanksgiving dinner
Noonish: 2K of swimming, main set of 5 X200m at about 3:15-3:20

I think I didn't "pace" well for Thanksgiving dinner. Overdid it on turkey and sides and then "hit the wall" just a few bites into the pie! Gave the rest to some hungry kids, and now I don't have any more! I did snag enough leftover turkey and gray for dinner tonight, though.

Enjoy the threshold run. Is that where you try to run as hard as you can for 20 minutes, like an FTP test?

Do we really need chia, spelt, and quinoa? Is anything wrong with old-fashioned peanut butter, broccoli and brown rice?

We have new 10 and 20 week training plans for the New Year! These mini sprint plans are very conservative and will get any person thinking of training for a triathlon ready to cross the finish-line.

Cotswold super sprint - UK. Lots of bodies colliding, I swam half over someone, got kicked by some bloody breaststroker, and as a mob we poured towards the first buoy.

Already a cyclist and not a bad swimmer, I figured all I had to do was build up to running a few miles and I’d be ready to go. The challenge invigorated me, and I ran out to buy new running shoes.

Since I didn't have much time and since it's a super sprint, am I OK just go to at the training relatively hard through Thursday or even Friday?
