how to, Voluntary disqualification

I have been trying to correct race results that are incorrect. I should be disqualified for not completing the entire course due to injury. Since I am rather new to the sport I asked a volunteer what I should do. I was instructed, and I quote “just cross the line, turn in your timing chip and tell one of the officials.” I understand now that was not the proper way to handle it.
Since then I have been trying to get the posted time corrected.

Can anyone please tell me whom or where I need to go to address this issue? I have sent messages to USAT and the company administering the race, but have not received a response.
