Subject: Planning the 2005 Season
I am already thinking about plans for next year's season. I want to gear the season around Oly Triathlons but also want to take a stab at a 1/2 IM. Where do I get info on race events, dates, and signup details for 1/2 IM's? Do you have to qualify for these events?

it's probably too early to find '05 races, RDs are still trying to get thru this season. But trifind.com is a good place to look when they start listing next year's stuff. You could look at this year's races and assume that a well-established race will be held on approx. the same weekend next year. I doubt there's any qualifying for 1/2's, usually just first come first served.

Echoing the comments about TriFind. However, what you can do is look up the 2004 races that have already passed. Check out the web sites and see if they have information about their 2005 race. I know some races are already accepting 2005 registrations.

Active.com is a good place. Around here, a lot of the races are perenials, so I'm just planning for them to be approximately the same time next year as they were/are this year.

So far, I have two "A" races in sight:
Wildflower OLY (May)
Vineman Half (Aug)

The rest will probably be sprints and maybe another OLY before the half.

One consideration is that these "A" races are going to be very expensive to register for (~$125-$150 each), so that will necessarily limit how many I can do.

Another consideration is my BF's race schedule. He'll most likely be doing both of these races, so that's not a problem.

I'm with Karen (madkat)

My "A" races are Wildflower and Vineman. (BTW, so excited that you are doing them, Karen. Now we just have to hook up Nancy. I have Lara's (Lara_SD) word that she's doing the Vineman as well!)

The rest of my races will actually be components. 2 Century's, a 1/2 marathon, a marathon, etc.

Although I have this crazy idea to do an Adventure Race as well. They host one in Sacramento in August. Hmmm....
