Subject: To skewer or not skewer

Just picked up my indoor trainer and bike from the bike shop (used bike found on craigslist)

Question: Do I need to use the skewer that comes with it or can I just mount the bike as is?

This is indoor trainer I have

The instruction manual isnt too clear on that. It just came in the box.

It's probably adviseable to use the skewer that came with the trainer.  The skewer that came with my trainer seems to be a little heavier-duty than the one on my bike, and it works perfectly as a unit.  Also, the skewer on my bike doesn't fit in the mounts on the trainer b/c the ends are shaped differently.

actually.... any closed cam skewer will work.  Your stock ones probably didn't fit because they were open cammed.  If you are having trouble fiding a skewer, just go to your LBS and ask for a closed cam and they will know what you mean.
