Subject: Triathlon Virgin here.....
Hi,

I'm completely new to all of this although I've known about this site for a while now. I've just now decided to make my move and start training and signed up under KathyG's mentor group. In order to make my decision stick, I've registered for a sprint in New Hampshire (which is where I live).

I ran track in school for a few years running the 200m. I enjoy bicycling and swimming although I haven't done them competitively.

After graduating college, I was sucked into the daily grind of work, marriage, house, family, and whatever else life threw at me, so I really haven't concentrated on just me for a very long time.

Now I feel like life has settled into it's groove and I want to take on a challenge, like triathlons, that tests me physically as I loved the adrenaline rush when I ran track.

I'm 35 years old and I have 3 kids...a boy who will be 7 soon, a daughter who's 5, and another son who's 3 1/2. My husband is very supportive, so I won't be scrabbling to find time to train.

I belong to a gym where I work out regularly although I've slacked during the holidays. Now I'm back to my routine again in addition to the new routines of the running, swimming (which i hope to start on soon!) and the cycling.

Have a Happy New Year!
Shannon

Dr. Di are you standing next to a Mt. Washington sign? My family and I took the drive up this past summer and happened to luck out with the weather....it was clear and you could see for miles. Even though I was ready to die of a heart attack on the way up AND down, the views were beyond breathtaking.

Yep!  I've been to the summit 4 times.  Hiked up three times (down twice and down once via the cog railroad) and driven up and down once.  Two of the four times it was clear.  It certainly does have some spectacular views!!!!!

Welcome!  My wife lived in NH for a couple of years... what a great place.  You could have the motto: Tri free or die!  (dorky, I know)

And I am looking to come with a group of friends to do the Reach the Beach Relay this September.  All thanks to BT, and getting into shape.

Peace,

Brian

Yeah, that motto is kinda corny, but that's OK, I get pretty corny too, lol.

Good luck with the Reach the Beach relay!!

For a newbie you sure are advanced.  Lots of training logged, lots of goals established.  You are way ahead of the game.  Are you sure you're new around here?  Anyway, Welcome to BT

Believe me...I'm definitely new!!

I've thought and thought about doing this, so I've got a tiny bit of knowledge through articles I've read. I've got a quite a way to go to make a dent in my training. I thought I was in shape until I started training. It's been a wake up call for sure.
