I think I'm going to head out there for this rally. If you leave near Ft. Worth or want to join in... let me know. I live in Carrollton and will drive a good 60 miles to get there.

I'm flexible on the miles I ride at the rally, but I would like to do around 60 miles. Might as ride as far as I have to drive one-way. Right?

Otherwise, if you want to meet up... and I'm too slow for you... I'm cool to ride alone. It's not a big deal.

If you are interested, let me know.

This event is out in Aledo, Texas which is actually about 20 minutes west of FW, just past the spot where I-30 and I-20 merge.  It's a good event and well organized from what I hear.  The high school is new and should provide plenty of parking and other support facilities.  If it doesn't conflict with my kids' soccer games, I'm planning on riding.

I would really like to do this as I need to put some serious miles on the bike before my first Oly tri in April. I would love to have someone to ride with. I am married to the guy who has to check on the kid's soccer games before deciding if he can come, but my thought is to get a babysitter as I don't coach. How fast do you think you will average? I doubt I could go 60 miles, but I could do a shorter distance.

TexMom- I have to tell you that I will be doing the 60 miles... but my average will be around 14 mph. You are more than welcome to join me for part of the route... if you want go shorter. This isn't a race... so we can ride how we need to and stop when we need to.

Kenny- AH! You are going to make it... COOL!!! I think we might be able to loop Kirk in too. Shoot, he lives out that way!

My boyfriend said he's going to go too... although he won't ride with me. Typically he heads on and I pop an earbud on one ear and enjoy my ride. But if I have company, that's cool.

So we're definitely doing it now? Just give me the definite yes or no so I know whether or not to sign up this evening.

Karen - so I checked out the site, are you thinking of doing the 64 mile? Is it a loop? I might sign up for that and then bail if I don't think I can make the full distance.

That sounds good to me.

I probably need to ride more miles than I drove to get there... right?

You might surprise yourself on the distance you can make.

The other weekend I made a 60 mile ride... with hills... and a 14.5 mph average, and I hadn't done a 60 mile ride in about 4 months!

But you needed to bail on the distance... that would be fine. I won't harrass ya for it.

OK, I am going to confirm one more time with my hubby that he can handle the kids. Have you already registered?

Hey, this was my idea, first.  But I can handle the kids, even if we ride the 8 or 20 mile distance and I'm towing 2 and Turner's on her bike.  I guess I'd better decide by Sunday if we can do the 8:35 start and still make a 10:50 game.  It'd be tight, but on the 8 mile course, doable.

You should go for the 60.  We'll go 1/2 that this Sunday, anyway.  What's another 30 miles on wheels?

You are the one coaching soccer, so I figured that you wouldn't have time. We can get a babysitter.

Y'all have a great time on the long ride.  I'll be out there with the trailers and kids hanging off the back of my mtb.

Your short ride will work you as hard as our long ride! That's hardcore pulling kids like that.

Everyone is doing the 64 huh? No one is in for the 75?? Darn.

I'm thinking of going, I'm just not sure of the distance. I have to a 3.5 hour ride anyway.

Well, if you go OUR average... around 14-15 mph... you will get in a 4 hour ride on the 64!

OK, the weather forecast is not looking great. I hope the rain clears out by the time it starts. The forecast I have seen does say the rain should be moving out in the early morning so hopefully that will hold!
