With the price of some of th e equipment I was wondering if any of you insure your bikes separately or as part of a rider in your household insurance. Is someone here in insurance and could offer some ideas on what we should do.

I have it as a rider on my house insurance...actually have all sporting goods insured to 10k...golf clubs, bikes, hockey equipment, etc. even insured against flood...only cost about 4$ a month on my house insurance...can't go wrong there

I have renter's insurance for my apartment. It's a great policy, which covers replacement cost (vs. value). So, if my bike is ripped off of my car raack a couple of years from now, I'll be able to replace my Trek 5200 with a new Madone! I have a $30,000 policy, which covers all of my possessions and costs about $25/month. I bought the policy the day I brought my new bike home. I asked about a rider and they said it wasn't necessary. Usually, I'm told, at least for renter's insurance, policy rider's come into play when you have expensive jewelry, artwork or firearms.
