Bump.

See everyone there.  Pavilion (corner of the pavillion closest to Minnehaha Falls).  I think my wife and I will be there by at least 8:45am to meet with a few of her friends.  We plan on lining up in the chute about 9:15am.

I'll be the one in running shorts and shoes...    I'm a short (5'6" Filipino guy...

I should be picking up packets tonight about 5:30pm.

I am not totally clear which corner that is, but I am hoping once I get there it will be obvious. Let's see, black running shorts, Asics shoes, probably green running shirt. We'll have quite a mob of folks there! Maybe I'll see you at packet pick-up, Sal. I'll be there around then too.

Heh.  Leaving to pick up packet now.  Dreading the trip (Golden Valley to Minnehaha Parkway - 394 EASTBOUND! -- Ugh).  Should be there at 5.  Jeans and red, white and blue LS shirt if you happen to see a short Filipino...   Later...

O.K., I took a look around when I picked up packets.  When I say corner closest to the falls, here it is in detail:

Go to the BIG pavillion, the one where you picked up your race packet, the one with the concession stand.  Go to the side closest to the river/falls.  If you look at the outside wall, you'll see in red letters: Minnehaha Park, Minneapolis Park District.  Let's meet right under the sign, or at the patio with the chairs and tables.  Good luck everyone.  Drink lots o' fluid.  S'gonna be warm tomorrow...

Hello Emily & Sal (and everyone),

My husband (MNDIVER) is a little better at keeping up on the threads, but I'm planning on being there around 845-900 also. I'll be in black shorts and an orange Nike top. Emily, if I don't see you, I will be around for SAG service on Sunday for the ride to Montgomery from our house. Sal, I'm sure I've seen you at the Burnsville Y in the wee hours of the morning, but look forward to meeting everyone.

Nice to see you Sal, Cindy and Denise (briefly). Sorry I missed you Kelly, I did see your note until today.

I hope everyone had a good race. I thought it was HARD, but then I have limited experience (anyone want to confirm/deny?). But I exceeded my goal, so I'm happy.

By the way, the results are up...

I never had the chance to check on the exact location, so I missed meeting up with you all. I did what I set out to do, keep it under a 10min mile pace! 9:54per mile...I had to pick up some slack with the slow start, but finished in 1hr 1min!!! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY!!!!

I didn't post that I would meet up with the group, but I did look for everyone. Only posted here a few times. Did anyone have a BT sign? Thought it would be fun to say hello. It was a beautiful day and TONS of people. That was my first Get in Gear and only my second 10K. I tried to start near the front as I thought I could keep a pretty good pace. I finished in 47:32. Very pleased with my finish. I also thought the event was well organized. I loved the parking at the VA and buses there and back. Is anyone out there going to do the MinniMan in June?

Have you ever done at Tri before? Minneman before? I am doing some group training starting next Sunday and looking forward to any tips that they can give. I have the running down and have been biking 3 days a week for the 3 weeks. Where are you at with your training?

This is my 2nd year in tri's.  I did 5 last year and enjoyed all of them, some more than others.  I have never done minneman but have heard it is an excellent race for a first timer.

Jim, sorry we missed you.  Most of us barely had the chance to say 'hi' before we lined up at the race start.  You ran an awesome race in my books.  Good luck on your road to IM Wisconsin...

Becki, awesome race.  You ran the PR I wasn't able to get this year!    Sorry we missed you before the race.  We met just southeast of the big pavillion on the patio.  All we had time for was quick introductions, a quick photo, and then it was off to the race start.  My wife and I were busy catching up with old friends/neighbors who came up from Mankato to run their 1st 10K, so we had a tough time focusing on the BT gathering.  Sorry folks...

Good job starting at the front.  I probably should have done that, but lined up with my wife and the Mankato group for moral support.  It was a SLOW start.  I ran the curb for the first mile just trying to get past people.  Probably could have PRed if I lined up toward the front (see race report), but it was a great (although crowded) race.

I'll be at Minneman.  Autumn sent out the pre-race meeting details last year.  She does much better than I do at that stuff.  We met on the lake side of the restrooms last year.  Minneman is a smaller race, so there's plenty of time to mill around with the BT folk before the race.  See you there...

3rd year of tris.  Swimming is my weak sport.  Elated last year when I swam the entire distance (~705 yds) of the Lifetime Fitness Sprint tri without stopping.   I have spent A LOT of time in the pool this year, maybe too much...  Biking, have done all my life.  Running, just picked up again 4 years ago.  Running Fargo Marathon in 3 weeks.

Tips?  Hmm...

Get a few open water swims (OWS) in.  Check the MN forum.  There are plans to do a 'mini-tri' the morning of Memorial Day.  http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=66801&posts=70&start=1  Many local triathletes begin OWS after Memorial Day at Lake Nokomis.

Get a few 'bricks' in (bike immediately followed by running), just so you aren't surprised when you try to run and wobble after the bike leg.  Keep checking the MN forum.  http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/forum-view.asp?fid=52#s   Lots o' good stuff going on...

Kelly, it was good to meet you (at least briefly).  Sorry we didn't all have more time to talk.  We had invited some friends/neighbors from Mankato to run the 10K with us and they had all kinds of questions and pre-race jitters.  Hope to see you and Bryan at upcoming races.  Will you be doing Minneman as well?
