Swim
  • 06m 46s
  • 300 yards
  • 02m 16s / 100 yards
Comments:

Not too bad for first tri. I've been swimming just once per week through winter, need to start working on speed drills. Try getting several swims per week in.
What would you do differently?:

Not much
Transition 1
  • 03m 34s
Comments:

Transition was up a hill 100 or so yards. didn't push too hard.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing at this point
Bike
  • 44m 46s
  • 8 miles
  • 10.72 mile/hr
Comments:

I've enjoyed mountain biking this year, I haven't even been out on my road bike yet, may do a couple of mountain bike tri's this year, Xterra?
What would you do differently?:

Poor gear changing on some steeper inclines, I need to improve on that
Transition 2
  • 57m 13s
Comments:

I'm not sure where the T2 ended and running started. I don't have biking shoes for my trail bike so T2 was fairly straight forward. I did stop to have some goo and water to wash it down.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing this early in season
Run
  • 36m 12s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 11m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

I have to work on endurance, I just pooped out. Hills didn't help
What would you do differently?:

as above, first tri of the year, we'll see how things progress
Post race
Warm down:

walk, shade, stretched

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm slow

Event comments:

I actually enjoyed this alot. This is a benefit tri for a homeless clinic. I spent 9 years of my life on this campus so it was fun to ride , and run through my old stomping grounds

Course: This was a mountain bike course. First mile was paved uphill including carrying bike up set of stairs of overpass, probably about 30 stairs or more total by my estimation, (didn't count-ha). That is something I didn't train for! Second mile was trail uphill. Total elevation gain by GPS around 600 feet. Some single track, some technical areas, some real steep, walking areas. Course is claiming 8 mile, I think it was only about 5 1/2 to 6

Course: Short 2/10 mile up hill then slow sloping down for 1/2 mile then nice hill down for 1/2 or more then flat and last mile was all uphill, with some pretty good pitches, ugh! First two miles were somewhere around 10/mile last mile was slow. By GPS course was about 2.25 mile?

Good job! Sounds like it was a great first tri, despite the stair climbing!
