Hello my name is Bill and I'm a compulsive planner.

I've mapped out all of my training and nutrition details for the week leading up to BSLT. Part of the training plan includes going out to the race site on Saturday at around 9:00 a.m. and doing a 15:00 open water swim in the cove, 30:00 easy on the bike, and an easy 15:00 run. After that I'll start EATING, continue hydrating, and drive the bike course.

I know a couple of people have expressed an interest in coming along. I'll be staying at the host hotel if anyone would like to meet up there and leave around 8:30 a.m. There is a per person fee to get into the park... I can't remember how much though.

It made me sick to my stomach with fear really helped me a lot to see the bike course last year the day before the race, so I recommend that even if you don't get out to train that morning.

Good luck to everyone!

P.S. Feel free to post your random race questions here too.

The Tri-Raider will be my 1st triathlon experience. Depending on when I get into Lubbock (Friday night or Saturday), I might be interested. It's been a while since I've been to Buffalo Lake.

Hey Bill,

I'll be there.  Arriving Friday night, staying in the host hotel.  I'm up for your plan.

Does anyone know which pro's are racing at BSLT?  Last year we saw Natascha practicing her bike transitions.

Last time I looked Natascha and Desiree were both registered. That's been a few weeks though.  See you there Tommy!

You know I'll be there!

Where am I staying again?  Just put one of those child leashes on me and make sure I don't wander off.

Anybody here doing just the Sprint race? This will be my 2nd tri (Disco in 2006) and I am wondering how the two races will occur, who goes first? Also - for those of you who have participated in this race from past years, what is the split of people who wear wet suites to those who don't? What do you rec?

I would be interested in taking a trip out to the race site. I will be heading up from Dallas on Friday night.

The 70.3 waves go off first, followed by the sprint (last year anyway, but I don't expect that would change). Most people wore wetsuits for the 70.3, but I don't know about the sprint. As a general rule, I say if you are comfortable in it and it makes you faster. It only takes we a few seconds to take it off so the benefit of the suit is favorable over not wearing it.

Shoot me a PM when the race gets closer and I'll give you the details/cell numbers/etc...

Good luck with your training!

So, a little over a week to go.  Are you ready?

Who's up for a pre-race dinner on Saturday night?  There is a good Italian resteraunt not far from the Holiday Inn.  It's called Orlando's.  We ate there last year.

I'm coming up saturday morning, should be in around 12 - 1pm. have a reservation at the hotel but may not need as the person I am traveling with has a friend that has a large house and we may stay there. Either way, saturday dinner sounds good.

the badmann vs ficker showdown should be awesome, always nice to have a good catfight

Natasha went up the first hill out of transition in full aero last year and destroyed the women's field.  Based on her show at Eagleman this year, I don't think Desiree has a chance.

Last year I remember crossing Desiree in the first mile of MY run.   I think Natasha had already finished.  Amazing.

Agree, think Badmann is in good form this time of year, perhaps this will light a fire under Desiree. I can feel the energy and excitement all ready

Either way, that's pretty hot, and a bit more humid than I would have expected for West Texas. Everybody remember to hydrate well!

Heat & humidity are not that big a deal; it's the wind we're wondering about...

Jun 18 @ 9:00 a.m. = 22 mph
Jun 17 @ 9:00 a.m. = 5 mph
