Out running or enjoying a fine glass of red...
Subject: I'm pretty sure this is y'all's fault...
I've been here looking for advice on the swim (who isn't?) and you gave it and I took it and I asked some more questions and you gave me some more answers and you sent me links and video clips and inspires, and now look what happened...

I constantly smell like chlorine, my hair has seen better days, I take better care of my swimsuit than I do of my work clothes, the morning lifeguard knows my name and my training routine, I actually looked for and found a pool I can use at least once on my vacation (and wished I could go more), and I can't wait for tomorrow so I can go swimming again.

What did y'all do to me?

Kristen

I was thinking the same thing this morning. I was on the bike and I kept smelling chlorine. I think I was sweating it!

I'm just glad that my wife likes the smell of chlorine. All my workout clothes smell like it.

I'm thinking they should be called "members of your BT support group" not "other idiots on this board".

Swimmin before 5am?  I think idiot fits quite well.  I'll take the smell of chlorine over the smell of pond slime anyday.

It's a nasty habit and one hard to break.  However, it makes identifying other triathlete's easier as you can smell the chlorine across the room. Laughing

Sorry.

There is support and there is egging on.  Two completely different things but I suppose in the end both have helped me advance along in this sport faster than by myself.  The OP makes a great point in that a lot of the purchases, workouts and races that would have seemed unnecessary just seem like completely normal things to do.  I used to never run outside in anything less than 20 degrees (ran in -15 this winter), workout in the AM (penciled in for a 3:15 start tomorrow AM though 3:30 current earliest), etc, etc.  With all those barriers broken down, I have seen tons of improvement, so thanks support group and idiots alike!!

Hi, Scott, welcome to the 15-step recovery program.  Step 1 - acknowledge and understand that there is not such thing as a recovery program from tris - once you're in, you're in for life!

Hi, I'm Robert, and I'm a tri-addict.  It's been 16 hours since my last workout.  I'm currently consuming another meal worth at least 1200 calories.  I'll be hungry in 2 hours.

Congrats on the swimming.

Now let's work on your grammer.  My understanding is that y'all is singular.  The plural would be all y'all.  Just saying we shouldn't just work on our tri skills here.

Sounds like some of us need a lunch run... Try to act normal and stay calm. Slowly excuse yourself from your cubical farm, change (or not if you don't like your co-workers), and run. If it is rest day... well... your... uh... screwd

And our spelling. I love that you used y'all! It's such a great word.

The smell of chlorine is awesome. It's when your skin threatens to flake off that you know you've got it really bad! But I guess that's why we run and bike, right? To sweat out the chlorine?

Discussing potential afternoon workout while OWS at 0500 and nobody bats an eye.  That is the defination of either a supportive group or a group needing  support.

I fully agree that the BT group, either online or in real life, is responsible for getting my but out of bed and into the pool many, many times over the last year.
